Ye sansaar ye sansaar

Posted on: July 20, 2009

Here is a “new” song for me in the sense that I heard this song for the first time just recently. This song is from a movie called “Sansaar” (1951).

The song could be called the title song of the movie considering that the word “sansaar” figures prominently in this song.

The song, written by Pt Indra describes the life of a common man’s family very eloquently. And that common man’s life is picturised nicely in this song.

Watching this picturisation, I cannot help thinking about how time flies. The parents shown in the picturisation, who look in their 40s, must have been born in 1910 or so,( 100 years ago) whereas the two kids shown in the picturisation must be in their 60s by now !

This song was sung by Tala Mahmood. There were three music directors i this movie who shared the workload. I have no idea which of the three music directors created this song. B S Kalla, E S Sastray and M D Parthsarathy were the three music directors.

It is a lovely song. It is a different kind of a song and it is a rare song too.

Song-Ye sansaar ye sansaar (Sansaar) (1951) Singer-Talat Mehmood, Lyrics-Pt Indra, MD- B S Kalla, Emani Shankar Sastry, M D Parthsarathy

Lyrics

ye sansaar ye sansaar
preet bharaa sansaar, sangeet bharaa sansaar
ye sansaar ye sansaar

nar aur naari milke is baagh ko khilaate
nar aur naari milke is baagh ko khilaate
baalak pyaare phoolon se muskuraate
ye sansaar ye sansaar
preet bharaa sansaar sangeet bharaa sansaar
ye sansaar ye sansaar

mehmaan ghar mein aate, sammaan maan paate
mehmaan ghar mein aate, sammaan maan paate
gungaan gaate jaate gaurav sadaa badhaate
ye sansaar ye sansaar
preet bharaa sansaar sangeet bharaa sansaar
ye sansaar ye sansaar

sansaar sindhu mein jo toofaan aandhi aate
sansaar sindhu mein jo toofaan aandhi aate
milkar donon naiyya kinaare laate
ye sansaar ye sansaar
preet bharaa sansaar sangeet bharaa sansaar
ye sansaar ye sansaar ye sansaar

This is resumbles a famous film in tamil by name Samsaram. In Tamil it was sung y Ghantasala, a legendry singer. I don’t know which is originol and which is remake.

Ghantasala sang the same song in Telugu also, I am told.

This movie has three music directors, and two of them are South Indian by names. From that it can be deduced that this movie was a movie which was simultaneously made into at least three languages by the same production house.

The Telugu/Tamil versions came before the Hindi version.

Indeed this movie is a Hindi remake of those versions.

and in addition, I think the two south indian MD’s, probably solicited help in arranging (or whatever) for the Hindi version from Mr. Kalla.

Also, Sri Emani Sankara Sastry was a very famous classical Veena vidwan. This is the first time I am hearing him being a music director for a film. Of course, I knew that the movie “samsaaram” was a very popular Telugu movie from the 50’s.

he movie was probably made simultaneously in telugu and Tamil by an outfit sauch as AVM, and seeing how popular it turned out to be, they made a Hindi version. That was quite common then. In most such movies, one would see quite a few south indian actors/actresses in minor roles.
