Madhoshi mein angdaayi mein

“Sheikh Chilli” (1956) was what was then regarded as a B grade movie. But the movie appears quite A grade in its overall quality. Mahipal and Shyama were the lead actors and I absolutely refuse to call Shyama a B grade actress. And Mahipal too has earned quite a repulation as a hero in these movies.
And when it came to the music, the music department was in the hands of some of the most talented people that Bollywood industry has ever produced.
Take this song for example. The lyrics are written by Pt Indra who was quite a senior lyricist by that time. Music director was Vinod (actual name Eric Roberts) who was one of the pioneers of Bollywood movie music at that time and whose music was ahead of its time.
The song is a duet sung wonderfully well by Geeta Dutt and G M Durrani. This song is picturised on Shyama and Mahipal. Shyama performs a lovely dance , and even Mahipal does a lovely jig or two on this song.
I am sure this song is as obscure as the movie, but the movie as well as the song deresve to be better known than that.
