Tumse door chale ham majboor chale

Posted on: October 20, 2009

“Pyaar ki raahein” (1959) is an obscure movie by now and its music is just as obscure. But as far as the music is concerned, it deserved much better fate.

Here is a song from this movie to show what I mean. This song is a duet sung by Hemant Kumar and Lata. This song which goes-” tumse door chale ham majboor chale” is written by Prem Dhawan. Kanu Ghosh composed the music.

Video of this song is not available but one can guess from the cast that this song was picturised on Pradeep Kumar and Anita Guha.

Song-Tumse door chale ham majboor chale (Pyaar ki raahein) (1959) Singer-Hemant Kumar, Lata, Lyrics-Prem Dhawan, MD-Kanu Ghosh

Lyrics

tum se door chale
ham majboor chale
pyaar bhare dil mil na sake
neel gagan ke tale
neel gagan ke tale
tum se door chale
ham majboor chale
pyaar bhare dil mil na sake
neel gagan ke tale
neel gagan ke tale

naa teri khataa naa meri khataa
ye hain qismat ke khel
tum bhi chaaho ham bhi chaahen
ho na sake par mel
main majboor huyi
tumse door huyi
roothi huyi taqdeer ke aage
kiskaa zor chale
kiskaa zor chale

sukh chain gayaa armaan lute
is pyaar ki raahon mein
o preet meri o geet mere
dhal gaye aahon mein
tum bin rah na sakoon
par kuchh kah na sakoon
lok laaj ke ghoonghat mein
ro ro koyi jale
ro ro koyi jale
tum se door chale
ham majboor chale
pyaar bhare dil mil na sake
neel gagan ke tale
neel gagan ke tale

I always used to confuse this song with another one by the same singers – tumhein yaad hoga kabhi hum mile the … from Satta Bazar. Interesting, the tunes and the styles of singing are similar in both songs. Did they have the same music director? In any case, thanks for reminding me of yet another old favorite from my younger days!

Music direction in “Satta Bazar” was by Kalyanji Anandji.

Lataji always said that she always has a feeling when Hemant Kumar sings, as if a sadhu is singing from top of a mountain.
The depth and broadness of Hemant Da’s voice so well matches with the thin shrill in Lataji’s voice.
I managed to make a cd of all their duet songs sung so far and it is fantastic

A wonderful composition. No one comes close to the poetry and sweetness of this and other bollywood songs.

Hemantda and Lata are truly gifted and blessed. May Hemant da’s soul rest in peace/

In second antara,
instead of ‘ o preet meri, o geet mere’,
please read ‘wo preet meri, wo geet mere.. ‘
