Unke khayaal aaye to aate chale gaye

“Laal Patthar” (1971) is a movie that has been forgotten with time.
This movie has some lovely songs, but the movie, as well as its songs are not all that well known, especially to the present day fans.
The song under discussion is one which was not known even to me. It is only recently that I have discovered this song.
This song is sung by Rafi and it is picturised on Raj Kumar. Other actors, viz Rakhi Hema Malini etc are also visible in this picturisation. Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist and Shankar Jaikishan composed the music.

song-Unke khayaal aaye to aate chale gaye (Laal Patthar) (1971) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Shankar Jaikishan
Lyrics
un ke khayaal aaye to aate chale gaye
un ke khayaal aaye to aate chale gaye
deewaanaa zindagi ko banaate chale gaye
un ke khayaal
jo saans aa raha hai kisi kaa payaam hai
jo saans aa raha hai kisi kaa payaam hai
betaabiyon ko aur badhaate chale gaye
un ke khayaal
is dil se aa rahi hai kisi yaar ki sadaa
is dil se aa rahi hai kisi yaar ki sadaa
veeraan meraa dil thaa basaate chale gaye
un ke khayaal
hosh-o-hawaas pe mere bijli si gir padi
hosh-o-hawaas pe mere bijli si gir padi
masti bhari nazar se pilaa ke chale gaye
un ke khayaal aaye to aate chale gaye
deewaanaa zindagi ko banaate chale gaye
un ke khayaal

The song is picturised on G M Durrani. Rajkumar plays tabla for sometime.
What an irony! Rafi lip syncs for his own idol.

Atul, I am back in action. 🙂
I was on a very slow dial-up line ever since I came to India – that limited very much my activity on the net. Now I have this Tata Photon thing, so I can be more active. I have not visited your site in a while – have a lot of catching up to do.
As for this song, thanks for posting it. I just love it.
Btw, it is not Rakhi picturised in this, but Hema Malini. The story is that Raj Kumar falls in love with “lowly”Hema, brings her to his palace, lives with her but does not marry her because she is not upto his standard of intellect. He marries Raakhee (whose childhood friend/confidant is Vinod Mehra). This results in interesting situations in the movie.
