I have said in the past that even the lesser known/obscure songs of the golden era movies were wonderful songs, in case we care to dig them up and listen to them again.
For example, let us discuss “Daadi Maa” (1967). As we all know, for most people this movie is synonymous with the immortal “Maa” song contained in this movie, viz. Usko nahin dekha hamne kabhi, which is one of the ultimate songs of its genre, but this movie had other songs which may be lesser known, but no less outstanding. I had already posted one such lesser known but superb song from this movie, viz. Jaataa hoon main mujhe ab naa bulaanaa
Here is another less known song from “Daadi Maa” (1967). This song is a lovely “aankh michauli” song cum love song. Dalip Raj is playing “Hide and Seek” with his attenders (Mukri and a lady that I am not familiar with). Mumtaz, her love angle comes and starts singing a song, and on enquiry by Mukri, Dalip Raj explains that the song is coming from a radio. Ok, keep that radio with you, Mukri tells him. Yes, I will, Dalip Raj says. while the two blindfolded servants are looking for him, Dalip Raj and Mumtaz are busy in their own romantic escapades.
This is a very sweet song which is sung by Lata. The picturisation is nice. It is wonderful to watch Mumtaz in her earlier pre stardom days when she was just beginning to find her feet in the A grade movies in the Hindi movie industry. Dalip Raj was the son of Subiraj, who was a leading actor in B grade movies in 1950s.
Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist and Roshan composed the music.
