Ba hosho hawaas mein deewaanaa

If there was a Shammi Kapoor starrer called “an Evening in Paris” (1966) then the me too producers could be counted upon to come up with a product with similar sounding title. And they came up with “Night in London” (1967) starring Vishwajeet (poor man’s Shammi Kapoor) and Mala Sinha.
There was nothing poor about the music of this movie, though. Laxmikant Pyarelal, then then upcoming music director duo had begun to come up with oustanding music right from their debut four years ago.
Laxmikant Pyarelal, who were admirers of Shankar Jaikishan, composed the music of this movie in Shankar Jaikishan style.
Here is a song from “Night in London” (1967). If one is not aware of the name of the movie, one may be excused for thinking that it is a quintessential Rafi-Shammi Kapoor song. The song is of course sung by Rafi. Anand Bakshi has come up with Hasrat Jaipuri like lyrics.
The song is picturised on Vishwajeet and Mala Sinha.
This song is not all that well known. I personally heard this song for the first time only a few hours ago. But what a song ! It is a forgotten gem that needs to be brought to the notice of music lovers.
