It is always a delight to listen to a female voice other than the usual ones. And the delight is even more when that voice sounds different and capable enough to hold her own against the usual voices.
Sulochana Kadam, a female singer of 1950s had a lovely voice and I remember her songs sung in “Dholak” (1950). Here is her voice again, this time from an obscure movie called “Mukhdaa” (1951). This forgotten movie was produced by Roop K Shorey and its star cast included Satish, Kuldip Kaur, Manju, Neeta, Cuckoo etc. Out of these names, I am familiar only with the name of Cuckoo.
Vinod was the music director of this movie but one song was composed by Shyam Sundar. This song is Shyam Sundar’s composition.
Here is this lovely song from “Mukhdaa” (1951). Sulochana Kadam is the singer. Aziz Kashmiri is the lyricist. Only audio is available and so it is hard to tell who the actor was in the picturisation.
The song itself is quite a gem of a song.
