Songs play a very important part in the success of Hindi movies. If one leaves out songs, then on many occasions, not much of interest is left in the movie
There are in fact movies that became hits solely because of their music. “Caravan” (1971) is one such movie that owe its success to its music. May be there are people who may disagree and say that Superstar Jeetendra’s acting was the reason for the success of “Caravan” (1971) 😀
I am not much aware about the story line of this movie or about the fact whether this movie indeed had anything like a story in it. To my mind, this movie was like a bouquet of great songs coming at regular intervals and overwhelming the movie goers. After these songs, no one bothered much about the story contained in the movie.
Here is one of the hugely popular songs from this movie. This song is a stage song sung by Asha Bhonsle and it is picturised on Asha Parekh, Jeetendra and others. I am not fully sure what is going on in the picturisation, because do not remember the story (if any) though I vaguely remember that I had watched this movie once in a movie hall.
Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist and R D Burman is the music director.

Rajesh Khanna was supposed to act in this movie which is why they say the songs were good. But he became a superstar and too expensive before things could be finalized.

hey atul
wata song. my all time work stopper. i can never have enough of asha and her antics. specially since during this period she was prone to crying “Na Koi Umang Hai” kind of songs. (even though i liked that song too who wants to cry with the heroine when we can prance around)
