Ek ham aur doosre tum teesraa koi nahin

Kishore Kumar made his debut as a playback singer in 1948 when he sang for Dev Anand in “Ziddi” (1948). For nearly two decades after that, he remained a marginal singer who only sang for himself and occasionally for others (read Dev Anand).
It was S D Burman who would use Kishore Kumar as playback singer for Dev Anand. Other music directors would use Kishore Kumar’s voice only iif Kishore Kumar was himself acting in the movie.
It is commonly believed that Kishore Kumar did not sing any songs for the other leading actors of the day, viz Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar. It was only in 1970s when Kishore Kumar became the undisputed number one male singer of Hindi movies that Kishore KUmar began to sing for all actors and during that period, he sang for Dilip Kumar also (in the movie called “Sagina” ).
What about Kishore Kumar singing for Raj Kapoor ? I thought that Kishore Kumar had never sung for Raj Kapoor. Now I find that Kishore Kumar had given playback for Raj Kapoor in a movie called “Pyaar” (1950).
S D Burman was the music director and so it comes as no surprise if S D Burman insisted on using Kishore Kumar as Raj Kapoor’s voice and managed to have his way.
This movie had Raj Kapoor paired with Nargis. Just like S D Burman used Kishore Kumar as Raj Kapoor’s voice, he used Geeta Roy (later Geeta Dutt) as the voice of Nargis.
Here is a rare duet song from “Pyaar”(1950) which is sung by Kishore Kumar and Geeta Dutt and it is picturised on Raj Kapoor and Nargis.
Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist.
Song-Ek ham aur doosre tum teesra koi nahin (Pyaar) (1950) Singers-Kishore Kumar, Geeta Dutt, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-S D Burman

so that means this song is a rarity in the following
1. Kishore for RK
2. Geetha for Nargis
and above all
3. SDB for a RK movie.
and what a lovely song. listening to it alone without video support and Atul’s write up it could easily have passed off as a DEV ANAND song?
but i think KK sang for RK some time later in the 70s in the movie “Do Jassos” so some such movie when RK was past his prime.
Arunji please throw some light here!!

There are more songs in ‘Do Ustad” where RK in lip synching Rafi songs. The reason for this was the music director O.P.N.
There is Rafi song for Raj Kapoor even in “Mera Naam Joker” , which is “Sadq-e-Heer”. And Rafi sang for R. K. in “Andaaz” too.
Among the sons, Randhir & Rishi both have Rafi songs. There was an R.K. banner film called “Harjaee” with RDB’s music, it had a Rafi song “Nee Raqsam”. All these songs are available on Youtube. Only the youngest, Rajiv Kapoor missed out, due to obvious reasons.

Geeta Roy (Dutt) had sung for Nargis in JAAN PEHCHAN (1950).
S D Burman was MD for DIL KI RANI (1947), a RK movie.

Kamath ji,
Kishore was not the only singer to sing for 3 brothers.Even Mohd.Rafi has also done it and in all probabilities even Talat Mehmood too may have done it.

My mistake for bad construction of sentences. What I intended to mean was that KK was the only singer who had given playback for all the six Kapoors I mentioned above.
Sorry for the trouble.

I never knew until few days back that Kishore Kumar had given play back for Raj Kapoor.
With this, it become interesting to note that Kishore Kumar is the only playback singer who has sung for all the three Kapoor borthers – Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor. Not only this, Kishore Kumar has also sung for all the three sons of Raj Kapoor – Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor.
This must be a sort of record.
