Rain songs and car songs are two of the most beloved categories of songs as far as I am concerned. and if the two categories are combined together in one song, then one can be rest assured of a delightful song.
This song is indeed picturised as a car song being driven in rain. Additionally, this song is driven not by a male driver accopanied by a disapproving female co passenger, but by a lady accompanied by approving female passengers. Yes, that way this song makes quite a welcome change from the usual car songs. Here, Nalini Jaiwant drives the car and sings the song, with a couple of her sahelis seated by her side. One can also see Ashk Kumar seated on the rear seat. Apparently he has been given lif by the ladies in their car. He is silent and does not get involved in the singing.
The song is rung with gusto by Lata. Raja Mehdi Ali Khan is the lyricist. C Ramchandra composed this song.
Here is this superb song from “Sangram” (1950). What a wonderful song ! This song needs to be better known among music lovers.
