The lyrics of most Sajjad Hussain compositions are serious affairs, but this song is an exception. It is a love song alright, but here the lovers have more practical matters to consider instead of talking poetry and astronomy. Mumtaz, who has come to meet Premnath, her lover, is getting delayed and she has to leave. And that is what this song is all about.
It is the first time I have heard a Sajjad Hussain song which is this light hearted. Song may be light hearted, but I am sure that the recording of this song was as serious a matter as any other Sajjad Hussain composition.
Here is this “getting delayed” song.The song is sung by Asha Bhonle. Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist and this song is picturised on Mumtaz and Premnath. The movie is “Rustam Sohrab” (1963).
