“Johar Mehmood in Goa” (1965), as the title suggests, is a movie starring I S Johar and Mehmood. The two go to Goa in a bid to liberate it. Yes, Goa was still under Portuguese occupation till 1961 while the rest of India had got independence in 1947 itself. It was in 1961, when it finally became a part of India.
I S Johar goes to Goa and falls in love with a Goan Girl (played by Sonia Sahni) and teaches her the mannerims of an Indian girls, viz cooking,Indian scriptures (like Ramayan, for instance). He in fact also teaches how to blush like an Indian girl. 😀
Having learnt Ramayana, Sonia Sahni asks I S Johar if he will launch a war for her the way Ram did for Sita in case she was taken away by someone else. I S Johar assures her that he will not allow that to happen, but if that happens then he would follow her like a flower.
And that leads to a dream sequence and this song, where Sonia Sahni dreams about a fantasy meeting with the hero, wherein he appears in front of her in form of a immaterial ghost, carrying a flower for her, carrying a candle, knocking down the rival Kamal Kapoor, and of course beautifully singing all the time.
The song is sung by Suman Kalyanpur and Mukesh. Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Kalyanji Ananadji.
