Aaja re pyaar pukaare

“Dil Ne Phir Yaad Kiyaa” (1966) had a story line that could send movie watchers a headache with its storyline. This movie, despite a good cast- Nutan, Dharmedra, Rehman etc, had a storyline that few people could digest, and few people did.
But the songs of this movie were something else altogether. I have yet to come to terms with the fact that a movie as bad as this could have such great music in it. It is like beauty and the beast.
Sonik and Omi , who were uncle and nephew, and who worked as assistants to established music directors, viz Madan Mohan, were beginning their career as independent music directors with this movie. And they gave a stellar performance, with one great song following another in this song. Alas ! This movie did not deserve these great songs. And Sonik Omi too deserved much better. But then they were erstwhile assistants to Madan Mohan, and he too was used to seeing his great compositions wasted in dud movies.
I have discussed as many as four songs from this movie, and there are many more great songs in this movie that I need to discuss.
Here is another song from this movie. It is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Nutan. G L Rawal is the lyricist. The picturisation shows Nutan incarcerated in a deserted building and singing this song. Hearing her, villagers set out towards the place where this song is comping from in a bid to locate and rescue her.
The song is lovely to listen to, like the other songs of this movie.

Somehow Nutan doesn’t come across as a damsel in distress.

i endorse everything atul has said abt dis song. actually seeing d video of this nice song 4 d 1st time. and i sat thru it just to see who wins the race 2 d haveli whether d villagers or dharamendra.
