When Madan Mohan began his career as a music director with “Aankhen” (1950), he used several singers and lyricists in that movie. Interestingly, Lata was not among those several singers. He began using Lata from his subsequent movies. And he also made use of less number of singers and lyricists in these movies.
“Madhosh” (1951) is a movie where Lata was the only female singer. Meena Kumari and Usha Kiran were the two leading ladies of this movie and Lata sang for both of them.
Here is a Lata song from “Madhosh” (1951) which is picturised on Usha Kiran. Raja Mehdi Ali Khan is the lyricist.

song-Jab aane waale aate hain (Madhosh) (1951) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Raja Mehdi Ali Khan, MD-Madan Mohan
Lyrics
jab aane waale aate hain
phir aa ke chale kyun jaate hain
ik aag lagaa kar seene mein
kyun door khade muskaate hain
laakhon thhin umange jab dil ne
tere pyaar ki aas lagaayi thhi
tere pyaar ki aas lagaayi thhi
teraa pyaar to hamko mil na sakaa
teri yaad se dil bahlaate hain
jab aane waale aate hain
phir aa ke chale kyun jaate hain
ae duniyaa waalo dekho ham
kaise taqdeer ke maare hain
ae duniyaa waalo dekho ham
kaise taqdeer ke maare hain
kaise taqdeer ke maare hain
ham unke hain dil unkaa hai
phir bhi wo hamen thukaraate hain
jab aane waale aate hain
phir aa ke chale kyun jaate hain
tadpaane waale shaad rahen
wo jahaab bhi hain aabaad rahen
wo jahaab bhi hain aabaad rahen
itnaa hi gilaa hai bas unse
kyun yaad hamen wo aate hain
jab aane waale aate hain
phir aa ke chale kyun jaate hain
ik aag lagaa kar seene mein
kyun door khade muskaate hain

There is another female singer in Madhosh. There is a song “Dil Dhak Dhak” used back to back in two parts, Singer for the first part is someone named “Chand” (with chorus) and is picturised on some unknown actress (with several enthusiastic tribal dancers). At the end of the song, suddenly Usha Kiran replaces the main dancer and the second song continues in Lata Mangeshkar’s voice.
You can watch the song on You Tube (at least now).
