Wo unka muskuraanaa sharmaanaa chaley jaanaa

Posted on: April 11, 2011

Boy meets girl, girl meets boy. Considering the society that they live in, the two are too shy to interact. The boy musters up the courage to break the ice and makes a tentative advance.

Here is a lovely heartwarming song on this topic. This song is from “Sangram” (1950). It is sung by Arun Kumar Mukherji. The song is picturised on Ashok Kumar who addresses this song to Nalini Jaiwant.

Brajendra Gaud is the lyricist. Music is composed by C Ramchandra.

What a nice and sweet song ! One can listen to this song (and watch the pictrisation) repeatedly without feeling bored.

Song-Wo unka muskuraana sharmaana chale jaanaa (Sangram) (1950) Singer-Arun Kumar Mukherji, Lyrics-Brajendra Gaud, MD-C Ramchandra

Lyrics

wo unka muskuraanaa
sharmaana chale jaanaa
wo unka muskuraanaa
sharmaana chale jaanaa
yoon baat hai zaraa si
par ban gayaa afsaanaa
yoon baat hai zaraa si
par ban gayaa afsaanaa

ham unse bekhabar thhe
behosh the gaafil thhe
ab hosh jo aayaa to
dil hi huaa deewaanaa
ab hosh jo aayaa to
dil hi huaa deewaanaa
yoon baat hai zaraa si
par ban gayaa afsaanaa
yoon baat hai zaraa si
par ban gayaa afsaanaa

ham jinke ho chuke hain
wo jaanen ya na jaane
apne kiye pe hamne
seekhaa nahin pachhtaanaa
apne kiye pe hamne
seekhaa nahin pachhtaanaa
yoon baat hai zaraa si
par ban gayaa afsaanaa
yoon baat hai zaraa si
par ban gayaa afsaanaa
wo unka muskuraanaa
sharmaana chale jaanaa
wo unka muskuraanaa
sharmaana chale jaanaa
yoon baat hai zaraa si
par ban gayaa afsaanaa
yoon baat hai zaraa si
par ban gayaa afsaanaa

A question to knowledgeable persons. Is Arun Kumar Mukherjee the same as Arun Kumar who sang many songs for Ashok Kumar in several Bombay Talkies films?

Ak ji,

From perusing the listings in Hindi Film Geet Kosh, it appears that Arun Kumar and Arun Kumar Mukherjee are the same person. This movie (Sangram-1950) is also Bombay Talkie movie. Refering back to 1943 Kismat, in that movie also, the singer for Ashok Kumar is Arun Kumar.
