Keh rahi hai raat andheri

“Hyderabad Ki Naazneen” (1952) is a movie about which very little is known. I have discussed two songs from this movie and the only thing that I have been able to find from the picturisation is that Nigar Sultana played the title role in this movie.
Here is another song from this movie. This song, unlike the earlier songs from this movie, is sung by a male singer, viz Talat Mehmood. The picturisation of this song should presumably enable me to find out about other actors of this movie. But that is not the case. The actors visible in this picturisation do not appear familiar to me. The picturisation shows a sadhu singing this philosophical song, seated near a fireplace, presumably doing yagya.
The lyrics of the song are by Noor Lucknowi and I am quite impressed by it. The lyrics talk about the fact that time is all powerful and even those who regard themselves as powerful are rendered powerless as time takes its toll on them.
Vasant Desai is the music director.
Like the movie, this song too is a rare song, but it is a gem nevertheless. I sometime wonder how such precious musical gems can be allowed to lie hidden, instead to being discovered and savoured, as they should be. And there are literally hundreds of such gemns lying all around us.

Song-Keh rahi hai raat andheri (Hyderabad Ki Naazneen) (1952) Singer-Talat Mehmood, Lyrics-Noor Lucknowi, MD-Vasant Desai
Lyrics
keh rahi hai raat andheri
ye jahan kuchh bhi nahin
chaand sooraj aur zameen o aasmaan kuch bhi nahin
kah rahi hai raat andheri
jinke mehlon mein sadaa bajti rahin shehnaayiyaan
jinke mehlon mein sadaa bajti rahin shehnaayiyaan
khaaq ke kuchh dher hain
baaki nishaan kuch bhi nahin
keh rahi hai raat andheri
jinke gusse ki sadaa se
kaanpne lagte thhe dil
aaj hain khaamosh aise
aaj hain khaamosh aise
jyun raha kuch bhi nahin
keh rahi hai raat andheri
kuchh yahaan ke waaste kar
kuchh wahaan ke waaste
imtihaan hi imtihaan hai
aur yahaan kuchh bhi nahin
keh rahi hai raat andheri
ye jahan kuchh bhi nahin

Atul ji,
Hyderabad ki Nazneen was a B grade movie, produced by Wasti,in his old days under the banner of New Voice Pictures.Nigar Sultana,in her waning days, did the main role. Nazneen means, delicate Beauty, but somehow in the wrong side of the age,it was difficult to digest Nigar Sultana as one such.
Manhar Desai was her Hero.Others were Durga Khote,Murad,Wasti etc.The Director was S.M.Yousuf.
the story revolved round a Nautch Girl, who wanted to get out of the profession and a Nawab trying to woo her.It was a boring costume drama, saved only by the music of Vasant Desai and playbacks of Lata,Talat, shamshad and others.
