Thukra rahi hai duniyaa

K L Saigal had less than thirty songs in the blog two months ago. Thanks to the conscious decision to discuss one K L Saigal song a day, we now have as many as 82 K L Saigal songs in this blog. And hopefully we will have a century of K L Saigal songs by the next month.
Here is another K L Saigal song. This song is from “Bhanwraa” (1944). This song is written by Kidar Sharma and its music is composed by Khemchand Prakash.
This is a relatively rare song by K L Saigal and I do not recall listening to this song in “Puraani filmon ke geet” programe of radio Celyon in the past decades, and this song in fact is not available on youtube either, the last time I checked.
PS-For the last few lines of the song, (shown in blue), K L Saigal is joined by Dilip Dholakiya.
Song-Thhukra rahi hai duniya (Bhanwra) (1944) Singers-K L Saigal, Dilip Dholakiya, Lyrics-Kidar Sharma, MD-Khemchand Prakash

Thukraa rahi hai duniyaa
ham hain ki so rahe hain
barbaad ho chuke thhe

sahmi huyin hain dekho
is baag ki bahaaren
sahmi huyin hain dekho

phoolon ko raund kar ham
phoolon ko raund kar ham
kaanton ko bo rahe hain
thukraa rahi hai duniyaa
ham hain ki so rahe hain
thukraa rahi hai duniyaa
ham hain ki so rahe hain
barbaad ho chuke thhey
barbaad ho rahe hain
thukraa rahi hai duniyaa
ham hain ki so rahe hain
ye waqt hai ki mil kar
bigdi huyi banaalen
ye waqt hai ki mil kar
bigdi huyi banaalen
ye waqt keemti ham
ye waqt keemti ham
jhagadon mein kho rahe hain
thukraa rahi hai duniyaa
ham hain ki so rahe hain
thukraa rahi hai duniyaa
ham hain ki so rahe hain
barbaad ho chuke thhey
barbaad ho rahe hain
thukraa rahi hai duniyaa
ham hain ki so rahe hain
gairon se na shiqaayat
gairon se na gilaa hai
gairon se na shiqaayat
gairon se na gilaa hai
Hindostaan ki naanv
Hindostaan ki naanv
Hindi dabo rahe hain
thukraa rahi hai duniyaa
ham hain ki so rahe hain
thukraa rahi hai duniyaa
ham hain ki so rahe hain
barbaad ho chuke thhey
barbaad ho rahe hain
thukraa rahi hai duniyaa
ham hain ki so rahe hain

In the aftermath of Mumbai bomb blast and the spate going on between two prominent political parties, this song looks apt for them especially the middle stanza.

Atul ji,
In the last antaraa, Saigal saab’s voice is accomapnied by another voice, starting from the line “hindostaan ki naao. . .”. The accompanying voice is identified as Dilip Dholakia, as per Harmandir Singh ji.

The singer who accompanies Saigal in the concluding lines of this song from the film ‘Bhanwra’ is Amirbai Karnataki, not of Dilip Dholakia.
In other songs of this film, such as ‘Kya hum ne bigada kyon hum ko satate ho’ Saigal is accompanied by Amirbai Karnataki and one more singer. It is known who that singer is. Similarly, in the song, ‘Diya jis ne dil, lut gaya wo bechara…’ Amirbai and one more female singer accompanies Saigal.

Could the verse ‘hindostan ki naav hindi dabo rahe hain’ be ‘hindostan ki naav hum hi dabo rahe hain’ instead?

It could be so, but Hindi here does not mean the language, instead it means Indians. The verse means “Indians themselves are pulling India down.
One can compare this verse with the Iqbal verse “Hindi hain Ham watan Hindustan hamaaraa” which means “we are Indians and our country is India”.
