When I went through the first few lines of this song (sent by nahm), I wondered what song this could be. It did not seem to ring any bells. But when i listened to the song, I immediately recognised it. I had listened to this song so many times in my younger days, but all those days I never became aware of the details of the song.
When I looked for the details, I realised why I was not aware of the deatils of this song. This song is from a movie called “Aamne Saamne” (1967) and few people were aware of this movie even in those days. What do you expect of a movie if it has Shashi Kapoor in it ! Here is this great song in it, but Shashi Kapoor is unable to take advantage of it, unlike Shammi Kapoor, his elder brother.
Here is this superb song, unfortunately wasted on a forgotten movie. The song is sung with his customary gusto by Rafi. It is picturised on Shashi Kapoor and Sharmila Tagore. And this song also has the added “attraction” of showing Sharmila Tagore in a swimsut, which used to be (and continues to be) a big deal for Hindi movie actresses. The song is picturised like how it is picturised in most Shammi Kapoor movies, but the end result for the movie was unfortunately not as desired.
The song is written by Anand Bakshi and music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji. It is a gem of a song that has unfortunately been forgotten with time.

One of my favorite song.
As Raj Kapoor had his famous walk, moustache and makeup from charlie chaplin.
Shammi Kapoor had his hair style from Gene Vincent yet the body language and dancing style from Elvis Presley.
While Shashi Kapoor is a demonstrative actor with his softly good looks and inimitable charm. you can put him as a clean cut copy of Cary Grant.

Agree with derubala!
Shashi Kapoor was and is an actor of great ability and talent whose time never came. Yet, he remains one of our favorite actors. Age has withered him these days, and it is hard to see him in that chair all the time.
This is a great song from Kalyanji Anandji, Anand Bakshi and Rafi Saheb.
