Maalik tere jahaan mein

“Ab Dilli Door Nahin” (1957) is a moving tale about orphan kids. The movie and its songs are in fact so poignantly picturised that I cannot bear to watch the movie. For that matter, I can rarely bear the watch the picturisation of a few songs too.
This movie also has that iconic kids’ song Chun chun karti aayi chidiyaa . This movie has a song Maata o maata jo tu aaj hoti whose picturisation can move people even today.
I have so far discussed four songs from this movie, and each one of them is a gem.
Here is yet another gem from this movie.
This song is picturised on Master Romi, who plays a central character in the movie. In this movie he got to sing in the voice of Sudha Malhotra. Sudha Malhotra actually sounds like a kid, that is how well she has adjusted her voice while singing for this movie.
This song is written by Shailendra. Music is composed by Dattaram.
On the occasion of Shailendra’s birthday (30th august), here is this lovely song from “Ab Dilli Door Nahin” (1957).

Song-Maalik tere jahaan mein (Ab Dilli Door Nahin) (1957) Singer-Sudha Malhotra, Lyrics-Shailendra, MD-Dattaram
Lyrics
maalik tere jahaan mein,
itne bade jahaan mein
koi nahin hamaaraa
koi nahin hamaaraa
maalik tere jahaan mein
ab kis ke dwaar jaaun
dukh mein kise bulaaun
sab kar gaye kinaaraa
koi nahin hamaaraa
maalik tere jahaan mein
is haal mein bhi dekho
thukaraa rahi hai duniyaa
ham par bani to ham se
katraa rahi hai duniyaa
ham par bani to ham se
katraa rahi hai duniyaa
naa aas naa dilaasaa
sab to hai ik tamaashaa
jhoothaa hai har sahaara
koi nahin hamaaraa
maalik tere jahaan mein
sar pe thaa jinka saaya
mujh se bichchad gaye hain
ummeed ke wo moti,
aansoo mein dhal gaye hain
ummeed ke wo moti,
aansoo mein dhal gaye hain
kyaa raat kyaa saweraa
aathhon pahar andheraa
tootaa har ek taaraa
koi nahin hamaaraa
maalik tere jahaan mein,
itne bade jahaan mein
koi nahin hamaaraa
koi nahin hamaaraa
maalik tere jahaan mein
