Do din ginti ke umariyaa beeti jaaye

Posted on: September 7, 2011

“Do Dil” (1947) is a movie which is directed by Jagdish Sethi. Its cast includes Motilal, Suraiya , Karan Diwan , Badri Prasad etc.

I have discussed two songs from this movie in the past. I just came across a rare song from this song. It is a simple sounding but deeply philosophical song. It is written b y D N Madhok and it tells us the fat that life is brief and whatever one has to do must be done now, otherwise it may be too late.

I fully subscribe to the philosophy contained in this song. What I loved about this song is that the song has simple words and spartan orchestra and still it still gets its message across emphatically.

It is a rare gem of a song that is so soothing to the ears.

Rafi is the singer and music is composed by Pt Govindram.

Song-Do din ginti ke umariya beeti jaaye (Do Dil) (1947) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-D N Madhok, MD-Pt Govindram

Lyrics

Do din ginti ke
umariya beeti jaaye
do din ginti ke
umariya beeti jaaye

pyaar ka bojh badaa bhaari hai
pyaar ki chot badi taari hai
pyaar ka bojh badaa bhaari hai
pyaar ki chot badi taari hai
taar baandh kar aansoo baithhe
taar baandh kar aansoo baithhe
ik jaaye ik aaye
umariya beeti jaaye
do din ginti ke
umariya beeti jaaye

poore kar armaan adhoore
poore kar armaan adhoore
warna honge kabhi na poore
warna honge kabhi na poore
jo karna hai aaj hi karle
jo karna hai aaj hi karle
kal ka saakshi kaun
kahin kal aaye na aaye
do din ginti ke
umariya beeti jaaye
do din ginti ke
umariya beeti jaaye

Dont u think it is “Kaari” in the these lines :

pyaar ka bojh badaa bhaari hai
pyaar ki chot badi “kaari” hai

Some times is easy to guess also how the line is going to end, even when listening to the song first time.

What does “kaari” mean here ?

“Kaari” – Sharp or stinging

“karari mar padegi, haath seedha rakkho ” teacher to student.

I will get another song with the usage of this word shortly.

It cannot be karari. It has to be kaari, which means effective or serious. For example ‘Jise ishq ka teer kaari lage use zindagi kyun na bhari lage’. In the present context it would mean ‘the injury of love is very serious’.
