Pyaar ke daaman se lipte ham kahaan tak aa gaye

Posted on: November 21, 2011

“Chaar Darvesh” (1964) is a quintessential B grade movie. It was directed by Homi Wadia nd the cast included names like Saeeda Khan, Feroz Khan,Sunder, Naaz, Mukri, B. M. Vyas, Ratnamal, Jeevankala, Paul Sharma, Amarnath, W. M. Khan etc.

Here is a duet song from this movie. The movie is sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle. Anjaan is the lyricist. Music is composed by G S Kohli.

It is an A grade song from a B grade movie. In fact I expect nothing less from the music of B grade movies of those days.

The lyrics of this song are sent to me by nahm.

Lyrics(Provided by nahm)

Pyaar ke daaman se lipte
ham kahaan tak aa gaye
o o o
ham nazar tak chaahte thhey
tum to dil par chhaa gaye

pyaar ke daaman se lipte
ham kahaan tak aa gaye
o o o
ham nazar tak chaahte thhey
tum to dil par chhaa gaye

pyaar ke daaman se lipte

ik sunehri
raat ka saaya
hamaare sar pe hai
ah haa aaa
aaa aaa aaa aaa

ik sunehri
raat ka saaya
hamaare sar pe hai
bichh gayi
raahon mein kaliyaan
dil haseen manzar pe hai

aaj apni hi adaa se
aap kyun sharmaa gaye
aaa aaa
ham nazar tak chaahte thhey
tum to dil par chhaa gaye

pyaar ke daaman se lipte

kya huaa jaadoo
zameen par
ab nahin padte qadam
ah haa aaa
aaa aaa aaa

kya huaa jadoo
zameen par
ab nahin padte qadam
pyaar ke nazuk paron par
ud rahe do dil sanam

ik nazar mein ham zameen se
aasmaan tak aa gaye
ah haa aaa
ham nazar tak chaahte thhe
tum to dil par chhaa gaye

pyaar ke daaman se lipte

jaan-e-jaan jaan ki qasam
tum par yeh jaan qurbaan hai
ah haa aaa
aaa aaa aaa aaa

jaan-e-jaan jaan ki qasam
tum par yeh jaan qurbaan hai
tauba tauba aap ki baaton se
dil hairaan hai

raaz dil ke
aaj aakhir
is zubaan tak aa gaye
aa aa aa
ham nazar tak chaahte thhe
tum to dil par chhaa gaye

pyaar ke daaman se lipte

Although not an “unheard” song for me, this song brings to memory the very unstable reception of Radio Ceylon. The first time I heard this song was in late 70’s on Radio Ceylon and the reception was sooooo poor that I had to wait another 20 years to really find out about the details of this song.

It was so mesmerizing that first time, and even to date it remains so. Very truly sounds like an OPN song which I feel is like a tribute to his boss by GS Kohli.
