Zaalim zamaane ne itna sataaya hai

During the period from 1940s to 1960s, we often had titles of Hindi movies based on Railways. Thus we had movies titled “Station Master” (1942), ” Rail Ka Dibba” (1953), “Railway Platform” (1955) , “The Train” (1970) etc. Much later in 1980s, we had a few more Railway based titles, viz “The Burning Train” (1980) and “Coolie” (1983).
With titles like these, one expects these movies to contain at least one rail song, if not more. But that was not necessarily the case with these movies.
These movies may or main not contain rail songs, but they tended to have some lovely songs of other genre, and a few songs of these movies are extremely well known. For instance, Basti basti parwat parwat gaataa jaaye banjaaraa is a song from “Railway Platform” (1955).
“Delhi Junction” (1960) is an obscure movie with a Railway based title. I wonder if Delhi Railway station plays an important role in this movie. This movie was produced by Nigarishna Film and it was directed by Md Hussain . The movie had Ajit, Shakeela, Nishi, Pran,Pratima Devi , Nimbalkar, Maruti, Cuckoo etc in it.
Here is a melancholic song extraordinaire from “Delhi Junction” (1960). This song is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Shakila. Gulshan Baawra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Kalyanji.
