Tumhaare pyar ka nasha hamaare dil pe chhaa gayaa

“Madaari” (1959) was a quintessential B grade movie. Such movies normally remained confined to their dedicated fans and failed to register among the mainstream movie watchers. But in some rare cases, the songs of such movies became so popular that mainstream movie watchers were made to sit up and take notice.

Examples of such B grade movies whose songs became as popular as mainsteeam movie songs are ” Waaman Avtaar” (1955 ), “Janam Janam Ke Phere” (1958) and “Parasmani” (1963).

“Madaari” (1959) is also a B grade movie with A grade music and its songs became as popular as the music of A grade movies. Dil lootne waale jaadugar , which has gone on to become an iconic song, is from “Madaari” (1959). “Madaari” (1959) was a Ratan Pictures production. It was produced by Ratan Kumar and directed by Babubhai Mistry. The star cast included names like Ranjan, Chitra, Manhar Desai,Jayashree Gadkar,Sundar etc.

Here is a relatively less known song from “Madaari” (1959), but it is just as lovely to listen to. I listened to this song for the first time just a few hours ago, and I could not help but compare the music of this song with that of “Parasmani” (1963) that came a few years later. Music of “Madaari” (1959) enabled Kalyanji Anandji to make it big as music directors. Likewise, music of “Parasmani” enabled Laxmikant Pyarelal to make the grade as music directors of A grade movies.

Incidentally, Laxmikant Pyarelal were assistants to Kalyanji Anandji. I have not looked it up, but It will not surprise me if it turns out that Laxmikant Pyarelal were the assistants to Kalyanji Aanndji in “Madaari” (1959) as well.

Here is this delightful song from “Madaari” (1959). It is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Chitra and Manhar Desai. Farooque Kaiser is the lyricist.

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

nazar khoyee khoyee hain
kadam bhi dagmagaaye hain
kisi ko kyaa khabar
hum teri mehfil mein kyun aaye hain

tumhaare pyaar ka nasha
hamaare dil pe chhaa gaya
lage behekne ab kadam
o baalmaa,
o saajnaa
o baalmaa,
o saajnaa
tumhaare pyaar ka nasha
hamaare dil pe chhaa gaya
lage behkne ab kadam
o baalmaa,
o saajnaa
o baalmaa,
o saajnaa

door se
ajee door se
dekho na mujhe
haaye door se
door se
ajee door se
dekho na mujhe
haaye door se
kareeb aa jaao
jiyaa na tadpaao
kareeb aa jaao
jiyaa na tadpaao
sun lo
sun lo
na munh phero
tumhaare pyaar ka nasha
hamaare dil pe chhaa gaya
lage behekne ab kadam
o baalmaa,
o saajnaa
o baalmaa,
o saajnaa

maan jaa…aaa
piyaa maan jaa
laage na jiyaa
haaye maan jaa
maan jaa
piyaa maan jaa
laage na jiyaa
haaye maan jaa
na neend aati hai
na jaan jaati hai
na neend aati hai
na jaan jaati hai
chhodo chhodo
jee hathh chhodo
tumhaare pyaar ka nasha
hamaare dil pe chhaa gaya
lage behekne ab kadam
o baalmaa,
o saajnaa
o baalmaa
o saajnaa
