“Shaahi Chor”(1955) was produced by Ramniklal N Shah and directed by Naseem Siqqiqui for Shah Pictures, Bombay. This costume movie had Shakeela, Daljeet, Hiralal, Jayant, Noor, Yashodhara Katju, Chaand Burque, Sadiq, Prakash, Shiela, malika, Mumtaz, Nadir, Qamar, Devraj, Aziz Siddiqui, Nazeer Kashmiri, Ansari, Wazir Mohammad Khan etc in it.

This forgotten movie had eight rare songs in it. Four songs from the movie have been covered in the past.

Here is the fifth song from “Shaahi Chor”(1955) to appear in the blog. This pathos filled song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Kaifi azmii is the lyricist. Music is composed by Dhaniram.

Only the audio of the song is available. Seeing that Asha Bhonsle’s voice is there in all the eight songs of the movie, one can safely assume that she sang for the leading lady of the movie viz Shakeela. So one can guess that this song was picturised on Shakeela.

Song-Mujhse nazar mod li (Shaahi Chor)(1955) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Kaifi Azmi, MD-Dhaniram

Lyrics

jaan de kar laaj rakhna hai
wafa ke naam ki ee ee ee
chheen lo ye zindagi
ab zindagi kis kaam ki

mujhse nazar mod li
mujhse nazar mod li
mujhko dagha de gaye
meri mohabbat ka tum
khoob sila de gaye
mujhse nazar mod li
mujhse nazar mod li

sar pe judaai ki raat
dar pe ghamon ki baaraat
sar pe judaai ki raat
dar pe ghamon ki baaraat
khoon ki mehndi lagi
ho gaye rangeen haath
khoon ki mehndi lagi
ho gaye rangeen haath
ishq ne maanga thha kya
ishq ne maanga thha kya
ishq ko kya de gaye
meri mohabbat ka tum
khoob sila de gaye
mujhse nazar mod li
mujhse nazar mod li

aa aa aa aa
aah bhi bekaar hai
sabr bi dushwaar hai
maut ka hai intzaar
maut se ab pyaar hai
tumne kiya kyun sitam
tumne kiya kyun sitam
kyun ye saza de gaye
meri muhabbat ka tum
khoob sila de gaye
mujhse nazar mod li
mujhse nazar mod li

Song-Tera teer pe teer chalaana (Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye)(1963) Singers-Mahendra Kapoor, Lata, Lyrics-Gulshan Bawra, MD-Kalyanji Anandji

Lyrics

tera teer pe teer chalaana
mera ghaayal sa ho jaana
tera teer pe teer chalaana
mera ghaayal sa ho jaana
kaise bhoolega dil wo tera sharmaana
kaise bhoolega dil wo tera sharmaana
dil se dil ka takra jaana
aankhon aankhon ka lad jaana
kaise bhoolega dil wo tera tadpaana
kaise bhoolega dil wo tera tadpaana

ik din toone mere seene pe sharmaa ke rakha sar apna
ik din toone mere seene pe sharmaa ke rakha sar apna
banke mehmaan mere ghar aaye
mere dil mein bana liya ghar apna

dil ka dil mein rahe thhikaana
jalta hai to jale zamaana
kaise bhoolega dil wo tera sharmaana
kaise bhoolega dil wo tera tadpaana

wo pahle pahal tera aa jaana
chhup chhup ke haseen raaton mein
wo pahle pahal tera aa jaana
chhup chhup ke haseen raaton mein

milte thhe kabhi hum chhup chhup ke
saawan ki jawaan barsaaton mein
aise mein dil ka ghabraana
koi dekh na le begaana
kaise bhoolega dil wo tera tadpaana

hoy kaise bhoolega dil wo tera sharmaana
tera teer pe teer chalaana
mera ghaayal sa ho jaana
kaisa bhoolega dil wo tera sharmaana
kaise bhoolega dil wo tera tadpaana

With ASAD covering 11K + songs till date, finding a new song to present, also having a link/sound track to attach, becomes more and more involved/difficult task for a contributor. I am sure one of the simple joys for the contributors must be (I am only a new entrant to the tribe) to locate one. And, if it happens to be a popular song it is an icing on the cake.

Here I am with such a joyful find. Like others have expressed it at times: “How come this song has escaped being presented?”
