A grade music in B grade movies- this has by now become a common refrain while discussing many of the songs in this blog. B grade movies had their own big name musi directors, and one of the biggest such names was undoubtedly Chitragupta.
Today (14th january) is the death anniversary of Chitragupta and on this occasion we are paying tribute to him in this blog by discussing a few of his compositions.
Here is a delightful Rafi-Lata duet from “Samson” (1964). The picturisation shows Dara Singh and Mumtaz together, but Dara Singh, a man of few words fails to express his feelings for Mumtaz. By the time he musters up the courage for singing a song, the two of them hear this song and find that the less uninhibited duo of Feroz Khan and Ameeta have already burst into this romantic duet. The words of the duet serve as expressing the feelings of Dara Singh and Mumtaz for each other too, even if only vicariously.
Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist of this song.

Atulji,
As per HFGK this movie was released in 1964. Other two posted songs of this movie also has the credit 1964. Info of this song and of “list of songs-moviewise” needs to be updated.

Ah, love this song! The other songs in this movie are also quite pleasant to listen to. This is one of the movies I did subtitling for, so I remember it quite well. 🙂
