Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Khush raho har khushi hai tumhaare liye

Posted on: February 27, 2012

The list of songs that belong to ” How come this song was not discussed earlier ! ” category is quite long. Here is another song of this category.

This memorable emotion filled song is sung by Mukesh with his inimitable Midas touch. The picturisation shows Rajshree getting married off and her mother rubbing salt on Jeetendra’s wounds by asking him to bless Rajshree. The pains that a man in Jeetendra’s situation would feel comes out superbly in this song.

The lyrics of this song were written by Indeewar. Today (27th february) is his death anniversary. Here is this song from “Suhaag Raat” (1968) as a tribute to Indeewar. Kalyanji Anandji composed the music of this song.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Khyati Bhatt.

Song-Khush raho har khushi hai tumhaare liye (Suhaag Raat)(1968) Singer-Mukesh, Lyrics-Indeewar, MD-Kalyanji Anandji

Lyrics(Provided by Khyati Bhatt)

khush raho
har khushi hai tumhaare liye
khush raho
har khushi hai tumhaare liye
chhod do aansuon ko hamaare liye
chhod do aansuon ko hamaare liye
khush raho
har khushi hai tumhaare liye

kyun udaasi ki tasweer banker khade
gham uthhaane ko duniya mein hum to pade
muskuraane ke din hain
na aahen bharo
muskuraane ke din hain
na aahen bharo
mere hotey na khud ko pareshaan karo
khush raho
har khushi hai tumhaare liye
khush raho
har khushi hai tumhaare liye

bijli chamke
tumhen darr ki kyaa baat hai
roshni ki yehi to shuruaat hai
tootni hai jo bijli mera sar to hai
tootni hai jo bijali mera sar to hai
jo andhere hain beghar
mera ghar to hai
khush raho
har khushi hai tumhaare liye
khush raho
har khushi hai tumhaare liye

tum bahaaron se shikwa na karna kabhi
de do kaante hamen
phool lelo sabhi
phool koi kuchal jaaye
jab bhool mein
phool koi kuchal jaaye
jab bhool mein
soch lena ke hum mil chuke dhool mein
khush raho
har khushi hai tumhaare liye
chhod do aansuon ko hamaare liye
chhod do aansuo ko hamaare liye
khush raho
har khushi hai tumhaare liye
khush raho har khushi hai tumhaare liye

Atul ji,
SUHAG RAAT-1968 was a melodramatic film, replete with unbelieveable coincidents, which are peculiar to Hindi films, and a totally loose storyline, which has no time sense,
It was an AJ Pictures’s film( producers of Sawan ke geet-78),and directed by R.Bhattacharya who had 4 more flop films(Modern Girl,Bedagh,Milan ki raat and sawan ke geet) to his credit.
Jeetu(Jeetendra)an Air Force Pilot loves his neighbour Rajjo(Rajashree) and they decide to get married.Suddenly War breaks out,Jeetu goes away and on the wedding day,the city is Air raided killing all except Rajjo.
When she is back from Hospital, she gets a Telegram that Jeetu is Missing and presumed dead. She goes away to Delhi.
After the war Jeetu returns and finding Rajjo missing, becomes a Manager with a wealthy Lady-Shanta Devi(Mridula Rani). Her son Uday is wayward and busy with wine and women.Jeetu suggests marriage. The mother arranges his marriage. When the bride comes home Jeetu finds that it is none other that Rajjo. Both are surprised. On Rajjo’s Suhag Raat,Uday goes to a prostitute and gets entangled in a murder case.To avoid arrest,he runs away and after 2 months, his dead body is found.Rajjo has not even seen his face.
After some time, one night Uday comes back, meets Rajjo, explains her everything and spends the night with her.In the morning he disappears again.
After few months,Rajjo is pregnant and she is suspected of illicit relations with Jeetu. Both are thrown out.
The rest of the story details how Jeetu finds out Uday, proves his innocence and reunites Rajjo and Uday finally.

I have seen this movie. The songs were ok – this movie also has that song “haiya o ganga maiya”. Otherwise it was just inflicting torture on rhe viewers, what with Jeetendra being the “paragon of sacrifice” and Rajshree (who I actually really like!) shedding a lot of tears.

The first time I saw this movie was when I was very young. Jeetendra dies in the end of the movie. The next week I happened to see Anmol Moti – again a Jeetendra movie. I couldn’t believe it!!! I asked my sisters “How is it possible? This man died last week?”.

They had a good laugh at my expense. 🙂
