Meri aankhon ki nindiya chura le gaya

“Jhuk Gaya Aasmaan” (1968) was an R D B Production. It was directed by Lekh Tandon. The starcast had Rajendra Kumar, Saira Banu, Prem Chopra,Rajendranath, Parveen Choudhary, Jagirdar, Randhir, Jagdish Raaj, Sulochana, Chaman Puri, Kamal Kapoor, Madhumati, David Abraham, Durga Khote, Hari Shivdasani etc in it.

This movie, like all Rajendra Kumar movies, had fantastic songs in it. I have discussed as many as four songs from this movie including songs like Kahaan chal diye idhar to aao, Kaun hai jo sapnon me aaya and Unse mili nazar ke mere hosh ud gaye .

Here is another song from the movie. In comparison to the above songs, this song is a “lesser known” song as far as I am concerned. This song is a Rafi Lata duet. Only the audio of this song seems to be available seeing that this song is described as the album version of the song. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this matter swhether this song was present in the movie or it was excluded from the movie.

Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by nahm.

Song-Meri aankhon ki nindiya churaa le gaya (Jhuk Gaya Aasmaan)(1968) Singers-Lata, Rafi, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Shankar Jaikishan

Lyrics (Provided by nahm)

meri aankhon ki nindiya churaa le gayaa
tumhaare siwaa kaun
tumhaare siwaa kaun
meri aankhon ki nindiya churaa le gayaa
tumhaare siwaa kaun
tumhaare siwaa kaun
ho baaton baaton mein dil ko udaa le gayaa
tumhaare siwaa kaun
tumhaare siwaa kaun
baaton baaton mein dil ko udaa le gayaa
tumhaare siwaa kaun
tumhaare siwaa kaun

apni aankhon se afsaane kehti rahi
main to yaadon ke toofaan mein behti rahi
main to yaadon ke toofaan mein behti rahi
koyi maujon mein mujh ko bahaa le gayaa
tumhaare siwaa kaun
tumhaare siwaa kaun
baaton baaton mein dil ko udaa le gayaa
tumhaare siwaa kaun
tumhaare siwaa kaun

meri aankhon ki nindiya churaa le gayaa
tumhaare siwaa kaun
tumhaare siwaa kaun

aisa bandhan bandhaa hai kabhi na khuley
khatm hote nahin pyaar ke silsiley
khatm hote nahin pyaar ke silsiley
zindagi bhar ko apnaa banaa le gayaa
tumhaare siwaa kaun
tumhaare siwaa kaun

meri aankhon ki nindiya churaa le gayaa
tumhaare siwaa kaun
tumhaare siwaa kaun
haan baaton baaton mein dil ko udaa le gayaa
tumhaare siwaa kaun
tumhaare siwaa kaun

woh khushi mil gayee
main bayaan kya karoon
ladkhadaati hai meri zubaan kya karoon
ladkhadaati hai meri zubaan kya karoon
dil ke doley mein koyi bithhaa le gayaa
tumhaare siwaa kaun
tumhaare siwaa kaun
ho baaton baaton mein dil ko udaa le gayaa
tumhaare siwaa kaun
tumhaare siwaa kaun

meri aankhon ki nindiya churaa le gayaa
tumhaare siwaa kaun
tumhaare siwaa kaun

Chaman Puri is mentioned in the cast of this film. I would like tp mention here that he was the eldest of the three Puris — Chaman, Madan and Amrish. He had done bit roles in many movies but the best remembered of his films is PYAR KIYE JAA. Magan Puri has done many films as villian. But his most memorable performance was in Rajshree’s DULHAN WOHI JO PIYA MAN BHAVE as a character actor. Amrish is a legend. These brothers are not related to Om Puri.

Vijaybhai,
How about Om Shivpuri? Was he related to anyone of these Puris?

Like

No, Shivpuri is a different surname and Om Shivpuri is not related to any of the Puri.

Khyati ji,
The Puri bros. were Punjabi, whereas Om Shipuri was Rajasthani, born in Jaipur in 1937.
Om Shipuri was the husband of Sudha Shivpuri, who almost became immortal as BAA in the famous TV serial “Saas bhi kabhi bahu thi”.

I have heard this song lots of times on the radio, but never seen it in this movie. My guess is, it was chopped out. Its a lovely song, a bit lesser than the other numbers.

Thanks Arunji and Atulji for clarifying. Ye five “Puri”s ne mujhe bahut pareshaan kiya tha. Now it’s clear.
