Mukesh and his Actors – 10
This will be the last of the duets that Mukesh sang with Suman Kalyanpur. For obvious reasons, I take back readers to my post on their complete collaboration. Here is the memorable post.
Out of the 36 duets they sang, 5 were yet to be covered by that time. One was covered in that post itself. One was a cheeky post taken away by Atul ji, citing reasons why I could not have taken it up. 😊
Thereafter, I covered two duets and this is the last. It is from the film Chori Chori (1973).
Well, this film is not to be confused with the more popular Chori Chori (1956) even though both films were composed by the same composers, Shanker Jaikishan.
I amply clarified the confusion in this post of mine.
Today’s song from the 1973 film featured actor Sanjay Khan and I take this opportunity to cover the songs Mukesh sang for him.
Sanjay Khan’s wiki page is here and he also has his own webpage.
I am a bit surprised that the playback songs of Mukesh for Sanjay Khan are only 3. In fact MGK-II cites only two in the index and that too one film being Milan ki Raat (1967), wherein the song being played is in the background with Sanjay Khan featuring only at the beginning and more importantly is not lip syncing. Evidentially, I am not including the song in the table below. But then, it is a very good song to listen to.
The three songs that Mukesh sang for Sanjay Khan are represented in the table below.
| MUKESH’s playback for SANJAY KHAN | |||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| S. No | Name of the song | Movie (Year of release) | Co-singer (if any) | Composer | Lyricist |
| 1 | Ham jee lenge bin tumhaare | Dillagi (1966) | Lata Mangeshkar | Laxmikant Pyarelal | Majrooh Sultanpuri |
| 2 | Jaane chale jaate hain kahaan | Pushpaanjali (1970) | Laxmikant Pyarelal | Anand Bakshi | |
| 3 | Dilbar Aa Ja Laga Loon Tujhe Main Gale | Chori Chori (1973) | Suman Kalyanpur | Shankar Jaikishan | Gulshan Bawra |
The two posted songs are very popular, and the solo song is a personal favourite of mine.
Kudos to Anand Bakshi for penning such a meaningful song. I request readers to listen to this song.
The inevitability of death to all living beings is a universal truth. The march towards our last breath begins with the very first one and what we do in between these two moments defines our life. Sometimes I feel the words inevitable and death should be synonyms. Those who depart to the other world never come back. We will never know about their whereabouts no matter what advances we make. The poet in this song pours his heart out and Mukesh sings with his midas touch. What a great and unique song and I always wonder why it is not much remembered.
A few days back we lost Asha Bhosale ji and I pay my humble tribute to her with this song at s no 2 in the table below.
Early February this year, I had a special post for representing my 100 Mukesh songs on the blog and had written on the famed collaboration of Asha Bhosale and Mukesh’s 58 Hindi duets. Here is the special post.
Coming to today’s film, Chori Chori (1973) was produced and directed by Kewal P. Kashyap. The cast was led by Sanjay Khan and Radha Saluja supported by a host of other actors and a few in supporting roles. All lyrics were written by Gulshan Bawra.
With this song, the last of the duets of Mukesh and Suman Kalyanpur has been covered on the blog.
