At any moment of time, I have lots and lots of contributions lying with me for discussion and I am unable to cope with them satisfactorily. I just realised that it is like sitting on a pile of gems and not finding time to appreciate them.
When I finally get the opportunity to listen to the songs, that I am often lefty amazed that there are so many great songs that were as yet unknown to me. Since lots of highly motivated music enthusiasts age digging up gems, we have a steady and seemingly inexhaustible supply of musical gems at our disposal that we can keep discussing on and on without running out of them for many years.
I had neither heard of the movie called “Mehmaan” (1974) nor any of its songs, even though this movie was released at a time when I was at my precocious best when it came to listening to current music.
Now, four decades later, I am getting to listen to this song for the first time, and I am really amazed that a song like this did not get popular during its time. But then one has to realise that those were the days of Kishore Kumar’s domination, and the songs of other singers often struggled to get popular.
My excuse is the justified excuse that I was quite young, barely into my teens and as such I was not into appreciating songs like this. Hopefully now I am mature enough (?) to be able to appreciate songs like this.
Here is this wonderful song from “Mehmaan” (1974). The song is written by Sahir Ludhianvi. Music is composed by Ravi.
Only the audio opf this song is available, so it is difficult to guess how and on whom this song was picturised.
Seeing that this movie had Biswajeet and Rekha in lead roles, it could well have been Biswajeet lip syncing this song.
