Forgetting important dates in one’s life always puts people in embarrassing and often tricky situations. My absentmindedness means that I am no staranger to such situations. If one forgets important dates in one’s personal life (spouse’s birthday, wedding anniversary etc), then heaven hath no fury like a spouse scorned. My wife has stopped talking to her siblings if they forgot to recall these dates. Fortunately, I get bailed out of such tricky situations by our daughter who remembers these dates.
Likewise, when it comes to the important dates for the blog, our regulars leave no stones unturned to help me out. Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, our beloved inhouse encyclopedia regularly sends me a list of important dates for the month. and then our regulars sent contributions meant for these special occasions.
Still, there have been occasions when these important dates were all but missed. But there are regulars who can be counted to come to my rescue. They send me contributions for important occasions, even if it is late in the day and I manage to save the day by posting those topical posts.
Today is the death anniversary of Kaifi Azmi, and I had all but missed this occasion, but Raja thankfully reminded me of this occasion. Not just that, he quickly wrote up a wonderful tribute to Kaifi azmi on this occasion which I have posted.
After I became aware of this occasion, I began to search for a few Kaifi Azmi songs to discuss. Searching for Kaifi Azmi songs was not easy since most Kaifi Azmi songs were already discussed. After spending considerable time searching for songs that were not yet discussed, I found two Kaifi azmi songs to discuss.
Here is the first of these songs.
This song is from “Maa Ka Aanchal” (1970). The movie, which is a “recent” movie by the standards of this blog is an obscure movie. This movie was produced and directed by Jagdev Bhambhri. the movie had Sanjeev Kumar, Anjana, Master Ratan, Abhi Bhattacharya, Leela Misra, Johnny Whisky etc in it.
This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Only the audio of this song is available, but one can guess that the song was picturised on Anjana, the laeding lady of this movie. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.
Kaifi Azmi is the lyricist and music is composed by Madan Mohan.
This song is an obscure song which I heard for the first time only today. And this song sounds like one pof those forgpotten gems that deserve much better fate that remaining buried under the sands of time.
This song shows that Madan Mohan did not just create gems with Lata, he created gems with Asha Bhonsle too, like this one.
And let us not forget the wonderful lyrics of this song.
