Kayi din se dil hai bekal
Posted on: June 4, 2012
4 june is the birth anniversary of not one but two actresses of the golden era of Hindi movies. One is Bina Rai and another is Nutan. And what a coincidence that both of them were born on the same day in the same year. Both of them were born on 4 june 1936.
Nutan, (4 june 1936-23 feb 1991) was the daughter of Shobhana Samarth and she was launched into Hindi movies by her mother in a movie that was appropriately called “Hamaari Beti” (1950). One dacade later, her younger sister Tanuja would also be launched by their mother.
Nutan, like her progressive mother broke new grounds as far as Indian women were concerned. If Shobhana Samarth brought respectability to acting as a career for females coming from respectable families, then Nutan was one of those daring ladies who participated in the very first Miss India competition and in fact she won the competition. Yes, Nutan was the very first Miss India that India had !
On the occasion of her birth anniversary, here is a song from “Dulhan Ek Raat Ki” (1966). this song is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Nutan as a piano song. Dharmendra, Rehman etc are visible in the picturisation alongwith a few others, including Theresa as one of the dancers.
Raja Mehdi Ali Khan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Madan Mohan.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra. He informs that the audio link (which is not yet traceable) had an additional stanza in the song. Till we are able to trace the complete audio version, here is the video version of this song.

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)
kayee din se jee hai bekal
ae dil ki lagan ab le chal
mujhe bhi wahaan
mere piya hain jahaan
mere piya hain jahaan
kayee din se jee hai bekal
ae dil ki lagan ab le chal
mujhe bhi wahaan
mere piya hai jahaan
mere piya hai jahaan
bichhdi nazar nazar se
to bechain ho gayee
bichhdi nazar nazar se
to bechain ho gayee
aise lagaa ke jaise koyee
cheez kho gayee
ab unke bina hoon aise
jaise naina bin kaajal
kayee din se jee hai bekal
ae dil ki lagan ab le chal
mujhe bhi wahaan
mere piya hain jahaan
mere piya hain jahaan
aayeee jo unki yaad to
saansein mehak gayeen een
aayee jo unki yaad to
saansein mehak gayeen een
aankhon mein bijliyaan si
hazaaron chamak gayeen
jiss ore utthi ye nazrein
lehraaye pyaar ke baadal
kayee din se jee hai bekal
ai dil ki lagan ab le chal
mujhe bhi wahaan
mere piya hai jahaan
mere piya hai jahaan
aati hain unnke pyaar ki
maujhein ….machhal machhal
aathi hain unnke pyaar ki
maujhein ….machhal machhal
kab tak kahoongi
dil se main apne
sambhal sambhal
jaa des piyaa ke ud jaa
ai/he mann ke panchchi ghaayal
kayee din se jee hai bekal
ai dil ki lagan ab le chal……aaaaaa
mujhe bhi wahaan
mere piya hai jahaan…aaaaa
mere….. piya hai jahaan
kayee din se jee hai bekal
ai dil ki lagan ab le chal……aaaaaa
mujhe bhi wahaan
mere piya hai jahaan…aaaaa
mere piya hai jahaan
