Dard bhari kisi ki yaad
Posted on: July 21, 2012
Here in this blog we discuss songs from Hindi movies on a daily basis. Since we discuss songs so it is natural that we discuss the people also who are involved in the making of these songs. They could be the singers, lyricists or the music directors, or they could be actors figuring in the picturisation of these songs. Rougly speaking, this blog by now had 6280 plus songs from 2000 plus movies. Over three hundred singers, over three hundred lyricists, and over two hundred music directors have been discussed in the blog so far. I have not counted the number of actors figuring in these songs, but that number is likely to be more than three hundreds as well.
With so many persons being discussed in this blog, it is natural that we regularly have some anniversaries or others featuring these personalities. and the month of July appears to have the most number of such anniversaries. There have been as many as thirty anniversaries in this month of july already and we still have ten more days to go in the month.
We try and discuss a few songs featuring these personalities on the day of these anniversaries.
In case of most of theese personalities, finding songs that have not yet been discussed does not pose much challenge. For instance, today (21 july) is the birthday anniversary of Anand Bakshi. Seeing that he has been one of the most prolific lyricists of all times, finding his songs to discuss on this occasion is no problem. As it is, I have already discussed four Anand Bakshi songs today and I have the material for many more Anand Bakshi songs with me too.
My headache is regarding the other person with an anniversary. Today is the death anniversary of Sajjad Hussain too, but unlike Anand Bakshi, not too many songs of Sajjad Hussain are available to be posted. As it is, Sajjad Hussain composed only about 100 Hindi movie songs in his career. Almost all the Sajjad Hussain songs that are available have already been discussed in the blog. And that included about 5-6 Sajjad Hussain songs that were considered extinct and which were re discovered by this blog. With 77 Sajjad Hussain already discussed in the blog, I do not have any other Sajjad Hussain songs left to be discussed. Unless the leftover missing songs of Sajjad Hussain reappear.
When I looked up at the list of available songs of Sajjad Hussain, I found that all 8 songs of “Sangdil” (1952) are available, but only seven of them have been discussed in the blog. Which was this missing song ? I checked and checked again, and then I arrived at this song. This song was one of the two songs that got deleted from the movie. So owning the DVD/VCD is not going to help if one is looking for this song.
Fortunately this song has been uploaded a few months ago. So here is at least one Sajjad Hussain song that I can finally discuss today.
This nice song is sung by Asha Bhonsle, who at that time was just 18 years old. She must have impressed Sajjad Hussain well enough seeing that Sajjad Hussain employed her voice in two songs in this movie and in eight more songs in his subsequent movies.
This song is written by Rajinder Krishan.
It is my privilege to present one more rare gem of Sajjad Hussain. This song was deleted from the movie, but we are lucky enough that the record of this song was made and I thank the kind gentleman who uploaded this song for our listening pleasure.
Song-Dard bhari kisi ki yaad (Sangdil)(1952) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-Sajjad Hussain
Lyrics
dard bhari kisi ki yaad
dil mein laga rahi hai aag
dard bhari kisi ki yaad
dil mein laga rahi hai aag
dard bhari kisi ki yaad
doobte din ke saath saath
doob rahi hai dil ki aas
beet gaya ek aur din
man ki bujhi nahin hai pyaas
dard bhari kisi ki yaad
dil mein laga rahi hai aag
dard bhari kisi ki yaad
chalte huye ye raaste
chalte huye ye raaste
kehte hain tu bhi chal kahin
?? mere qadam
manzil meri koi nahin
koi nahin
dard bhari kisi ki yaad
dil mein laga rahi hai aag
dard bhari kisi ki yaad

I wonder what Mumtaz Madhawani is thinking nowadays …
She pair with DaraSsingh almost 16 films and with Rajesh Khanna 8 films…and both of her heroes died within a week a part.
I can only imagine, she must be a heartbroken.
Hope that she find an inner peace.
