Ek ladki le gayi dil de gayi wo dhokha

on:Today (23 august) is the birthday of Sapan Chakraborty. For much of his career, he was as assistant of R D Burman. He worked as an independent music director in a few Hindi and Bangla movies too. Moreover he has sung a few songs in Hindi movies too.
I had the option to discuss a song either sung by him or composed by him. When I became aware of this song composed by him then I decided to discuss this song.
This song is from “Naya Nasha”(1973). Looking at the title, as well as looking at a few songs of this obscure movie, I feel that the makers of this movie ( producer C V K Shashri and director Hari Dutt) wanted to make a movie on the likes of “Hara Rama Hare Krishna” (1971), and that too with a cast consisting of non saleable actors like Sharad Kumar, Ramesh Deo, Murad, Ranjeet, Nanda, Manmohan Krishnan, Achla Sachdev, Asit Sen, Madan Puri, Nana Palsikar etc.
The movie was so obscure that I do not remember ever being aware of this movie or its songs. When I heard this song for the first time a few hours ago, I could barely believe that a song like this should end up becoming forgotten. But unfortunately this is the curse of flop movies that their songs too end up getting consigned to oblivion.
This nice and funny get together song is sung by Kishore Kumar. The lyrics by Anand Bakshi are quite funny and amusing. Music is composed by Sapan Chakraborty. The song pays tribute to R D Burman by mentioning his name in the lyrics.
It is a forgotten gem from a forgotten movie. I cannot comment abouut the movie, but the song deserves to be much better known among music lovers.
I am not familiar with the actor lip syncing the song. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify him.
PS-The actor is Sharad Kumar. I thank Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, our beloved inhouse encyclopaedia, for this identification.

Song-Ek ladki le gayi dil de gayi wo dhokha(Naya Nasha)(1973) Singer-Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-Sapan Chakraborty
sunne waalo
ek maze ki baat suniye
ek romantic picture dekhkar main ghar aa raha thha
raaste mein R D Burman ka ek gaana gaa raha thha
ke achaanak wo mil gayi
ek ladki le gayi dil
de gayi wo dhokha
wo deewaani ek na maani
laakh maine roka
haa
ek ladki le gayi dil
de gayi wo dhokha
wo deewaani ek na maani
laakh maine roka
haa
is shahar ki har ek sadak par
maine usko dhoondha
us haseen ka
jaldi mein maine
naam bhi na poochhaa
is shahar ki har ek sadak par
maine usko dhoondha
us haseen ka
jaldi mein maine
naam bhi na poochhaa
aise aayi aise gayi
jaise hawa ka jhonka
wo deewaani ek na maani
laakh maine roka
haa
ek ladki le gayi dil
de gayi wo dhokha
wo deewaani haa
ek na maani haa
laakh maine roka
haa
kar saka na main apne dil ki
baat usse koi
isse pehle ki main sambhalta
bheed mein wo khoyi
kar saka na main apne dil ki
baat usse koi
isse pehle ki main sambhalta
bheed mein wo khoyi
ab na jaane phir kab milega
ye sunehri mauqa haa
wo deewaani ek na maani
laakh maine roka
ek ladki le gayi dil
de gayi wo dhokha
wo deewaani ek na maani
laakh maine roka
haa
apne dil ke khoney ka mujhko
gham na itna hota
ghar pahunchke main raat saari
baith ke na rota
apne dil ke khoney ka mujhko
gham na itna hota
ghar pahunchke main raat saari
baith ke na rota
saath dil ke haay le gayi wo
note bhi ek sau ka haa
wo deewaani ek na maani
laakh maine roka
ek ladki le gayi dil
de gayi wo dhokha
wo deewaani ek na maani
laakh maine roka
haa

Atulji,
This movie had another little known song Aye aao karen baaten….by Lata Mangeshkar.
In another song Kash pe kash lagaane de….sung by Asha Bhonsle, you will see Nanda, the lead actress of this movie is smoking 😯
I am not familiar with the story line of this movie, but sounds like an eye opener for those who were in drugs, just like the movie Hare Raam Hare Krishna-71. Arunji can help with the details.

Khyati ji,
this film was based on the abuses of Drugs, which had became the new menace in India during this era.
Nanda, who is the only daughter of a very rich father and a socialite mother craves for attention and love and falls a prey to the habit of taking drugs.Film shows how she comes out of it in the end.
