Daljeet Kaur Khangura was an Indian actress best known for her substantial contribution to Punjabi cinema, where she was one of the leading female stars of the 1970s and 1980s. She also appeared in Hindi films and worked in Punjabi cinema for several decades. She was sometimes referred to as the “Hema Malini of Punjabi cinema”, reflecting both her popularity and her status as a leading actress of her generation.

‘Mr. Bechaara’ (1996) was produced by Nandu Tolani and was directed by K Bhagyaraj. The cast included Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, Heera Rajgopal, Anupam Kher, Shakti Kapoor, Avtar Gill, Mahavir Shah, Tiku Talsania, Shammi, Damini, Baby Vandana, Master Rakesh Bhanushali, Manmauji, Yasmin etc. Nagarjuna made his special appearance in the film. The film was a remake of Tamil film, ‘Veetla Visheshanga’ (1994) which was also directed by K Bhagyaraj who acted in the film in the lead role.

Then we went on to cover a song that was lip synced by another acresses whose name began with the same letter and who had not lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in the blog.
The exercise of finding a “new” actress whose name begins with a particular letter is being increasingly difficult. The three “new” actresses who made their debuts in the blog (as far as lip syncing in Asha Bhonsle’s voice is concerned) were Anju Mahendru, Bhanupriya, Chandrakala, Divya Bharati, Ekta,Farheen, Gulnar Irani, Harsha Mehra, Isha Koppikar, Jasmine and Khushboo.

The post today has something in common with Atulji’s post, which inspired this one. Atulji introduced Divya Bharati when he came to the letter D in his series of alphabetical posts featuring actresses lip-synching to Asha Bhosle’s songs. The film from which today’s song is taken is believed to deal, in some way, with Divya Bharati’s death, which occurred nearly 20 years before the film was released. How far this connection is actually true, however, is difficult for me to say.
With today’s post, the actress Devshi Khanduri makes her debut on this blog. Devshi Khanduri is not only an actress, but also a model and lyricist. She was born on 13 March 1983 in Mumbai and brought up in Dehradun. She began modeling while she was in college and subsequently worked in advertising and fashion before making her entry into films.
