“Ek Din Ka Sultan” (1945) was a Minerva Movietone movie. It was Produced and directed by Sohrab Modi. The movie had Mehtab, Wasti, Ghulam Mohammed, Pratima Devi, Amir Bano etc in it.
Here is a song from this movie. This song is sung by G M Durrani. Wali Sahab is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shanti Kumar Desai.
I am not familiar with the person in the picturisation, but my guess is that he is Wasti. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this matter.

Thanks to you and Kamath ji for posting this,once very famous,song from a 1945 film.
EK DIN KA SULTAN-had actually 3 MDs,namely Rafiq Gaznavi,Shanti kumar desai and D.Gadkar.The story of this film and the 1964 film Ek Din Ka Badshah is very similar.
We find 2 uncommon names in this film .One is Lyricist Wali Saheb.
Wali Saheb was the elder brother of lyricist Nazim panipati,and hailed from Lahore.He was very friendly with Roop Shorey and Dalsukh Pancholi in lahore.Shorey gave him chance to write songs in his Punjabi films like Majnu-1936(The first film of Harold lewis AKA actor Majnu-a close friend of Shorey.This film was a parody of story of Laila Majnu) and few others.His first Hindi film was Deeno Duniya-36 and Jeevan Jyoti-37.In Khajanchi-41,Wali Saheb came into limelight and from there to his last film Maharani-57,he wrote more than 250 Hindi songs in about 40 films.Then he migrated to Pakistan and continued writing for films without much success.In India he directed 5 films,besides producing one film also.
The other name is SHANTI KUMAR DESAI.
As a composer his first film was Navbharat-1934 and till his last film tere dwar khada Bhagwan-1964 he had given music to almost 40 films including one marathi film,Raigadh-1940 along with Lata’s father Deenanath Mangeshkar.Among all his songs,his most famous song was the above song,posted today.
