“Chunariya” (1948) was a Kuldeep Pictures Ltd production. It was directed by Ravindra Dave. The movie had Wasti, Manorama, Pran, Randhir, Cuckoo, Narbada Shanker etc in it.

This song is a ghazal which is sung by Lata. Butaram Sharma is the lyricist. Music is composed by Hansraj Bahl.
The lyrics of this song is sent to me by Mr Sadanand Kamath who guesses that this could well be the first solo ghazal sung by Lata in her playback singing career.
Only the audio of this song is available and so it is difficult to guess about the picturisation of this song. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this matter.

In 1948, Behl had four films..
(1) Chunariya, (2) Mitti Ke Khilone, (3) Pardesi Mehmaan (4) Satya Narayan.
Only in film Chunariya’ he did well, specially dil-e-nashad was a hit song.
But not as good as he did in 1947song from (Chhen le azadi) moti chugane gayi re hansi man sarovar teer..(Mukesh/shamshad).
