Tu jo likhe kismat aisi kaun tujhe bhagwan kahey

It is human nature that many of us blame others for our plights. But Hindi movie characters often go one step further. They hold the Almighty responsible for the situation that they find themselves in. Such characters would then sing a song in which they remonstrate with the Almighty.
Lyrics of such songs are often a source of inadvertent amusement to me because in these lyrics, the Almighty is often called names hoping that it would cause Him to see the error of His ways and he would mend His ways. 🙂
Here is another song of this category. This song is from “Laadla” (1954). This movie was a Verma Films Production. It was directed by Surya Kumar. The movie had Karan Dewan, Shyama, Agha, Raj Mehra, Krishna Kumari etc in it.
The song is sung by Rafi. Kaif Irfani is the lyricist. Music is composed by Vinod.
Only the audio of this song is available and as such it is difficult to guess how and on whom this song is picturised. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.
Song-Tu jo likhe kismat aisi kaun tujhe bhagwaan kahe (Laadla)(1954) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Kaif Irfani, MD-Vinod
Lyrics
Tu jo likhe kismat aisi
kaun tujhe bhagwaan kahe
tu jo likhe kismat aisi
kaun tujhe bhagwaan kahe
sun o kismat likhne waale
ae ae
tujh se ik insaan kahe
insaan kahe
tu jo likhe kismat aisi
kaun tujhe bhagwaan kahe
kashti ko saahil pe laakar
haan
jab taqdeer duboye
haay
jab taqdeer duboye
teri is likhi kismat par
haan
kiski aankh na roye
haay
kiski aankh na roye
honthon se palkon pe aakar
jalti si muskaan kahe
muskaan kahe
tu jo likhe kismat aisi
kaun tujhe bhagwaan kahe
na insaafi
zulm gareebi
majboori tasweere hain
kyaa tere hi haath ki likhi
ye andhi taqdeeren hain
aa is jag se bhaag chale ham
insaan har armaan sahe
armaan sahe
tu jo likhe kismat aisi
kaun tujhe bhagwaan kahe
kaun tujhe bhagwaan kahe
tujh se ik insaan kahe
tujh se ik insaan kahe

Sometimes one can’t help complaining to God about all the injustice done to you and blaming Him for it. This is one such song, rarely if ever heard. Haven’t heard it at all.

Nice post and great thoughts, Atulji. I wonder what would be the result if humans are getting all his wishes fulfilled. He tries to find solution of his misery outside reluctant to accept the reality that everything is within.
Here is what Swami Vivekananda says about the cause of misery-
Stand up, be bold, and take the blame on your own shoulders. Do not go about throwing mud at others; for all the faults you suffer from, you are the sole and only cause. (Complete Works, 3.429)
Well, I think that’s why they are called Great Masters. They can hear the inner voice. Thanks for the song.
