Na jaane din kaise jeewan mein aaye hain

This article is written by Peevesie’s mom, a fellow enthusiast of Hindi movie music and a regular contributor to this blog.
Recently our dear Arunkumarji had begun a new series where in he was featuring songs of those actors who are not trained singers but who have sung a line or two in some song or other in their own voice. That means basically he is showing us the image se hatke side of the actors. The song which I am writing about is also image se hatke for the actor concerned.
With this movie Asrani took to direction. He was the hero in this movie and not the usual comedian. He had a romantic song with Hema Malini as well as Bindiya Goswami the heroine. Actually the movie had a whole lot of stars who did special appearances. The list is like this—Dharamendra, Hema Malini, Amitabh Bachchan, Ashok Kumar, Rishi Kapoor, Kishore Kumar, Premnath, Simi Garewal & Sunil Dutt. A.K.Hangal played Asrani’s father, David was Bindiya’s father, Paintal & Keshto Mukherjee played Asrani’s “chamchas” (the ones who always hang around big stars). Satyen Kappoo played a script writer. I am talking of the movie “Chala Murari Hero Banane”. This movie had music by RD Burman, Yogesh was the lyricist. I have seen this movie ages ago on its release when I was in high school (I should thank my dad for taking me along). Hence I can not remember who the other guest artists were, but both IMDB & Wikipedia say that L.K.Advani & A.B. Vajpayee are also on the list of guerst artists.
The movie had a simple storyline. I am quoting Wikipedia here
Murari has a dream of becoming an actor, but his dad (A.K. Hangal), who runs a cloth shop, wants his help in the shop. Murari runs away from home and catches train to Mumbai. On his journey, he meets a teacher who says he knows Raj Kapoor. Murari comes to Mumbai, lives in a chawl, struggles bit and becomes a successful and rich actor. Then comes a twist in his life, he gets affixed in scandals, link up and his love lady (Bindiya Goswami) leaves Murari forever. Finally, he proves himself innocent and they happily marry.
So that is the gist of the movie and and here is the song. The song is sung by Kishore Kumar and it is picturised on Asrani.
Song-Na jaane din kaise jeewan mein aaye hain (Chala Muraari Hero Banane)(1977) Singer-Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Yogesh, MD-R D Burman
Lyrics
Na jaane din kaise
jeevan mein aaye hain
na jaane din kaise
jeevan mein aaye hain
ke mujhse to bicchde
khud mere saaye hain
na jaane din kaise
jeevan mein aaye hain
kya kya socha thha
kya thhin umeedein
jiske liye bhi maine kho din
aankhon ki yeh neendein
kya kya socha thha
kya thhin umeedein
jiske liye bhi maine kho din
aankhon ki yeh neendein
usi se dukhon ke
tohfe yeh paaye hain
na jaane din kaise
jeevan mein aaye hain
samjha sukh jisko
chhaaya thhi gham ki
jaise kahin ret pe chamken
kuchh boonden shabnam ki
samjha sukh jisko
chhaaya thhi gham ki
jaise kahin ret pe chamken
kuchh boonden shabnam ki
yeh dhokhe nazar ke
humne bhi khaaye hain
na jaane din kaise
jeevan mein aaye hain
ke mujhse to bicchde
khud mere saaye hain
na jaane din kaise
jeevan mein aaye hain

Thanks for the write up Peevesie’s mom ji !!
I had sent the lyrics for this song on Dec 2nd to Atul ji as Jan 1st was Asrani’s birth anniversary, and with so many excellent posts for the new year posted, i thought this would came later.
But being posted with this well deserved write up have fulfilled the purpose(i.e. to have the prominent songs from the seventies on our blog). Thanks ! the song is very nice! i had not seen the movie but it was well discussed during those days, so was I S Johar’s ‘Kissa Kursi Kaa’ as i remember. Thanks Atul ji for this post !

Regarding the film ‘Kissa Kursi Ka’ (1978); it was a film by Amrit Nahata, and not by IS Johar.
As I checked for it online, I found one comment to say that this film was banned by the govt and all prints were confiscated.
