Pati Patni (1966) was R D Burman’s fifth released film, after his debut in Chhote Nawab (1961). Most probably his close friend Mehmood procured this project for him as well.
Just like in Bhoot Bangla (1965), Mehmood gets playback from Manna Dey. He was also a favourite of Pancham in those days. It is interesting to note that the title pair gets only one or two songs to sing and all the rest go to the supporting pair and the vamp.
The song is filmed on Mehmood and Mumtaz. He seems to be flirting with other women, while she seems to be stalking him. The whole aim is to make her jealous, so she falls in love with him. Very ingenious!

I have read in some film magazines, as usual Mehmood overshadowed all the actors, as he used to shine in those days, where heroes are scared to be share the screen space alongwith him.

He had a lot of rhythm in him, he dances a bit like his father. Cross check karna hai to wo gana dubara dekho, Choodi me laya anmol re.
