Bhoot bunglaa

This is the only song left from the film Bhoot Bungla (1965) on this blog. The title song of the film is unique in many ways. This features the first song by the composer himself. Not only does he sing but also act in this song. He plays the main lead, Mehmood’s best friend, which he also was in the real life.
The song does not have many lines. I wonder if Hasrat Jaipuri wrote the lyrics at all. It is quite possible that Pancham and Mehmood wrote them on their own. The official lyricist of the film is Hasrat Jaipuri, thus the song has to be credited to him.
Listen to the splendid music between the lines and the wonderful choreography of the ghosts. I enjoyed the song immensely. I hope you do it too.

Lyrics
main bhookhaa hoon
main bhookhaa hoon
tujhe khaaungaa
tujhe khaaungaa
ab kahaan jaaoge
(making noises like an owl and a crow)
main pyaasaa hoon
main pyaasaa hoon
khoon piyungaa
khoon piyingaa
ab kahaan jaaoge
ab kahaan jaaoge
bhoot
bangalaa
haan
bhoot
bangalaa
boo hoo hoo hoo!
kahaan aa kar lo ham dono
kahaan aa kar lo ham dono
kahaan aa kar lo ham dono
yeh narq mein phanse
bemaut mar gaye
idhar bhi dar
udhar bhi dar
ke jaaye ham bhalaa kidhar
idhar bhi dar
udhar bhi dar
ke jaaye ham kidhar
bhoot
bangalaa
bhoot
bangalaa
bhoot
bangalaa
bhoot
bangalaa
bhoot
bangalaa
bhoot
bangalaa
bhoot
bangalaa
bhaago yahaan se
jaan bachi to laakhon paaye
ghar ke buddhoo ghar ko aaye

Wow Arunji! That is a lot of information. I have seen Aamne Samne a couple of years ago, but do not remember when Pancham cam on.
I must see Pyar ka Mausam 🙂 It has lovely songs, Shashi hai, and now the additional lalach of spotting a young Pancham again.

I love this movie. It had lovely music and this song was the most popular. I remember my cousins singing bhoooooot bangalaaaaa all the time. What a great role RD had here. 🙂 I am surprised he never acted again.

I didn’t like it much. The story drifts away at times, like Hindi mystery films often do, but the songs were nice.
A pity that RDB didn’t act more, at least not on such a greater scale.
