Jaane chaman shola badan

Posted on: March 29, 2013

“Gumnaam” (1965), based on Agatha Christie’s novel, “And then there were none”, was a Ptithvi Pictures production movie. It was produced by N N Sippy and directed by Raja Nawathe. The movie had Manoj Kumar, Nanda, Pran, Dhumal, Mehmood, Helen, Madan Puri, Tarun Bose, Manmohan, Naina, Laxmi Chhaya, Hiralal etc in it.

As many as seven songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the eighth song from the movie. This song is a Rafi Sharda duet, which is picturised on Manoj Kumar and Nanda. This was the second romantic song picturised on the lead pair of Manoj Kumar and Nanda, the other such song being Ek ladki hai jisne jeena mushqil kar diya.

Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Atif M.

I request our knowledgeable readers to confirm / refute whether this song is the final song from this movie.

Song-Jaane chaman shola badan (Gumnaam)(1965) Singers-Rafi, Sharda, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Shankar Jaikishan

Lyrics(Provided by Atif M)

jaan-e-chaman shola badan
pehloo mein aa jaao
oe mere dil mere humdum
baanhon mein aa jaao

haaye
jaan-e-chaman shola badan pehloo mein aa jaao
haaye
o mere dil mere humdum
baanhon mein aa jaao

madhosh hai zindagi
chaaron taraf bekhudi
madhosh hai zindagi
chaaron taraf bekhudi
thaamo mujhe main gira
thaamo mujhe main gira
lehraaye dil ki lagi
jaan-e-chaman shola badan
pehloo mein aa jaao
o mere dil mere humdum
baanhon mein aa jaao

paani jo hum par gire
ik aag tan mein lage
paani jo hum par gire
ik aag tan mein lage
tum ko khabar kya sanam
tum ko khabar kya sanam
kehte hain ulfat ise
o mere dil mere humdum
baanhon mein aa jaao

hoye hoye
jaan-e-chaman shola badan
pehloo mein aa jaao

baadal se barse nasha
bheegi huyi hai fizaa
baadal se barse nasha
bheegi huyi hai fizaa aa
thandi hawa jab chale ae ae
thandi hawa jab chale
kaanpe hai dil ka diya
o mere dil mere humdum
baanhon mein aa jaao

haaye
jaan-e-chaman shola badan
pehloo mein aa jaao
haaye (hmm hmm)
o mere dil mere humdum (hmm hmm hmm)
baanhon mein aa jaao(hmm hmm hmm)
jaan-e-chaman shola badan pehloo mein aa jaao(hmm hmm hmm hmm)

would anybody be so kind to translate these lyrics into English?

Good Evening dear Caroline,

Nobody can translate a Lyric of one language to any other.

One can only attempt to give what the central idea of the Lyric means, nothing more.

As for me, I do know very little of Hindi. If I do that with less knowledge, it will become a laughing stock.😁

Hope someone will take interest in fulfilling your wish.

Blessings.

Uma🙏
