Earlier in the week, I have posted two songs, on the request of Sikander Esmail Sb of the USA. The songs are “Mann Pagley Sapan Dikhaaye”, and “Tumhen Dil Se Jaane Nahin Denge Hum”.
After these songs were posted, I received from Sikander Sb, probably the most emotional thank you note, that I have ever read. Praise be to his emotions for this departed friends, that brings out such beautiful phrases of dear friendship and gratefulness.
With this write up, I am posting the third song that he has requested. I was able to identify this song quickly enough with the help of Geet Kosh, but locating the song took a little bit of time and searching, and eventually I am able to locate the song in my own collection. (Sometimes things are not so organized 🙂 ).
This song is also from the same period, as the other two. The film is ‘Bairam Khan’ from 1946. The is a ‘naat’ sung in the honor and praise of Muhammad Saheb (PBUH). The love of his followers is so intensely projected in the verses. The poetry is from the pen of Buta Ram Sharma, and the musical composition is from the mind of Ghulam Haider Sb.
The singing voices identified are those of Khan Mastaana and Shamshad Begum. A major part of the song is a chorus of these two voices. There are some lines only in the voice of Khan Mastaana Sb, but there is no line sung solo by Shamshad Begum.
A very touching and a very moving song – the words, the music and the rendering all combine to make a delightful listening encounter.
