Today 21st October is the birthday of the dancing diva HELEN. And it is not possible to let it pass by without a song to show our love for her.
But that is the most difficult task for us atulites. Why? Because we have covered so many of her famous songs that one has to sit down with pen and paper to make a list of those songs that are left. In that respect I envy the various radio channels and TV programmes which will show the same set of songs on every occasion. I suspect that they don’t know the existence of the lesser known songs.
But today my job was a little easy as I remembered that I had noted down the lyrics of this very famous song of “AGENT VINOD” (1977) not yet posted song sometime back. So here is the song. This is the typical disguise song where no one is supposed to recognize the hero Mahendra Sandhu since he plays an undercover agent. Further even his side kick Jagdeep is shown in disguise. This song also covers all the standard clichés of Hindi movies. The dancing girl (Helen) is shown to be doing an Arabic Belly dance but she sings in lovely Hindi. Top it with the fact that even the Arab knows very good Hindi. Yeh Kaise hota hain humare cinema mein?
Ram Laxman are the music director for this song which is sung by Shailendra Singh and Asha Bhonsle. Ravindra Rawal is the lyricist

@ Peevesie’s mom ji – Nice post and it took Helen’s birthday to launch this long awaited debut of this film ‘Agent Vinod-1977’. It brings back memories. This song I think was (very?) popular then and Mahendra Sandhu was topic of discussion because of his dashing style (hope I am correct).
Months back (in Feb this year) I had shared one ‘muqabla’ type song from this movie sung by Manna Dey and Asha Bhonsle to Atul ji. (I think some other songs from this movie are also interesting).
This one was in my wish list and thanks for sharing this one and bringing it here with a post…!!!
