Today (10 december 2013) is the ninth death anniversary of Homi Wadia (22 may 1911- 10 december 2004). He was the co founder of Wadia Movietone. Later he set up Basant Pictures. He is well known for his Fearless Nadia series of movies. He later married Fearless Nadia and thus Nadia became Nadia Wadia. 🙂
“Alladin and the wonderful lamp” (1952) was a Basant Pictures production and it was directed by Homi Wadia. The movie had Mahipal, Meena Kumari, Jilloo Maa, Vasantrao Pahelwan, B. M. Vyas, Babu Raje, Raja Sandow,W. M. Khan, S. N. Tripathi, Azim etc in it.
Five songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the sixth song from the movie. It is sung by Shamshad Begam and it is picturised on Meena Kumari. Shyam Hindi is the lyricist. Music is composed by S N Tripathi.
