“Humaayun” (1945) was produced and directed by Mehboob Khan under the banner of Mehboob Productions. The star cast included Ashok Kumar (Humaayun), Veena (Rajput Rajkumari), Nargis (Hamida Bano), Shah Nawaz (Baabar), Chandramohan (Rajkumar Randhir), K N Singh (Jai Singh), Abdul Rashid, Himalaywala etc.
Six songs from the movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the seventh song from the movie. This song is sung by Shamshad Begam and it is picturised on Nargis, playing Hamida Bano. In the pictturisation, Humaayun is shown seriously ill while Baabar is by his bedside. Legend has it that Baabar prayed to the almighty that his life may be taken away in exchange for his son. The lyrics of this song express those sentiments of Baabar.
