“Laal Bangla” (1966) was a Jugal Productions movie. It was produced and directed by Jugal Kishore. The movie had Sujit Kumar, Prithviraj Kapoor, Sheikh Mukhtar, Jayanthi, Shyama, Rachna, Jugal Kishore, Hiralal, Mohan Choti etc in it.

Today (5 february 2014) is the fourth death anniversary of Sujit Kumar (7 february 1934- 5 february 2010). Sujit Kumar mostly played bit roles in Hindi movies but he did play lead roles in a few Hindi movies. In addition, he was a superstar in Bhojpuri movies.

“Laal Bangla” (1966) was one of the few Hindi movies where Sujit Kumar played the lead role. Four songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. All but one song of this movie were sung by female playback singers. the lone song where a male playback voice was emnployed was the well known Mukesh song, viz. Chaand ko kya maaloom chaahta hai use koyi chakor.

On the occasion of Sujit Kumar’s death anniversary today, here is the fifth song from the movie. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. It is picturised as a seduction song. I am unable to identify the lady who tries to seduce our hero Sujit Kumar, who needless to say is morally upright and cannot be seduced by such methods. 🙂

I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the seductress in the picturisation of this song.

Gulshan Bawra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Usha Khanna.

Song-Aa baahon mein aa jaa (Laal Bangla)(1966) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Gulshan Bawra, MD-Usha Khanna

Lyrics

aa aa aa
aa aa aa
aa aa
aa aa aa

aa
baahon mein aa jaa
aa
saanson pe chha jaa
aisa mausam kahaan
phir aayega
pyaar ka
aa
baahon mein aa jaa
aa
saanson pe chha jaa

shaayad kabhi phir miley na miley
mehki ye tanhaayiyaan
shaayad kabhi phir miley na miley
mehki ye tanhaayiyaan
hai ye takaaza haseen raat ka
mil jaaye parchhaaiyaan
ho ja ghadi bhar ke meharbaan
hai ye meri iltiza
jaane jigar mere pyaar ko
itna to na aazmaa
aa aa
aa aa aa
aa
baahon mein aa jaa
aa
saanson pe chha jaa
aisa mausam kahaan
phir aayega
pyaar ka
aa
baahon mein aa jaa
aa
saanson pe chha jaa
hmm
laralalala
la
saanson pe chha jaa

Thanks for this information. She was looking vaguely like Shyama even to me.

‘Haseen Vaadiyon…’, a famous song of this movie was also sung by male playback singer- Rafi, picturised on Sujit Kumar & Jayanthi. So ‘ Chand ko kya maloom…’ was not the only song in Male voice in this movie!

Yes, you are right. There were two songs in Male voices and four only in female voices.

A finest club song of that era, though not so popular, but it seems that Usha khannna and asha bhosle have tried to give their best.

Loved this part. 🙂 Thanks Atulji for the post and remembering Sujit Kumar.

The best song of the film (in my humble personal opinion) was the one sung by Mukesh – “Chand ko kya maloom chahta hai use koi chakor”. it was picturised on the producer, director & actor, Jugal Kishore.
