It has been a while that I made a contribution to the blog. Not that I have been away, but once the momentum is gone, lethargy sets in. Every once in a while one keeps exploring the possibilities of writing a post, for some special song. While I was pondering on where to start again, much has happened here. Firstly, congratulations to Atul ji and fellow contributors are in order for reaching the figure of 9500 songs posted.
I have long held the view that the lyricist/poets writing Hindi film songs deserve to be credited for the richness of the golden era songs as the music directors. More often than not, they must have inspired the composers to give such melodious tunes to the words written by them.
I had yesterday planned of sending a few lyrics to keep the my score board ticking, which is languishing at 188. I set about finding a song to send for Aarzoo Lucknowi’s Birth Anniversary on 26th February. Obviously the starting point is the Excel sheet of Rafi songs. I found this movie Shahkaar (1947) is yet to make a debut in the blog, with songs by penned by Aarzoo Lucknowi and composed by K. Datta. While looking for the link to this song ‘nainon se naina milaa le sotaa prem jagaa le” on youtube, I found some more songs starting with same or similar words. These are universal favourite words for song writers, with classics like, ‘nain se nain naahin milaao’ ‘nain mile chain kahaan’ which come to mind.
Finding that these rare and wondrous songs are not posted in the blog, has motivated me enough to start a short series of ‘Naino se naina milaa ke ” songs.
So here is the first song of this series, which is a duet by Mohammed Rafi and Raj Kumari from the film ‘Shaahkaar’ (1947).
