“Sapna” (1952) was directed by Kidar Sharma for Hindustan production company. The movie had Kishore Sahu, Bina Rai, Cuckoo, Shakuntala, Moni C., Hiralal, Rani Chanda, Narbada Shanker, Paul Sharma etc in it.

The movie had seven songs in it. Two songs from the movie have been covered in the blog.

Here is the third song from the movie to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Rajkumari. Bharat Vyas is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shyam Babu Pathak.

This song is a semi classical song, full with sargam bols (that I have not been able to note down). Only the audio of this song are available. My guess is that this song is picturised as a dance performance song. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on this movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.

Mukesh and his co-singers – 4

A song recorded and composed by Roshan in 1950, was the topic of discussion on a TV program nearly 5 decades later. The singer (judge on the show) was requested by none other than Anil Biswas, to sing a few lines of the famous song. The specific reference was to the word “ib” in the song “Sun Bairi Balam Sach Bol Re Ib Kyaa Hoga” from ‘Bawre Nain’ (1950). She rendered the song in an effortless manner without any background music. It is difficult to believe that she could sing so well at the spur of the moment.

It is an interesting exercise to find out what well known HFM personalities did on their debut.

Based on their achievements, one may well think that people started succeeding right from the beginning of their careers. In most cases, that is hardly the case, though.

With this post, the blog has now clocked thirteen thousand two hundred unique songs. It may be so that these century milestone are now an expected regularity.
