Genius of Jaidev
============
Alaap, was a 1977 film directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, with music by Jaidev and lyrics by Harivansrai Bachchan and Dr. Rahi Masum Raza. Since many songs from this film are covered in this Blog, I do not want to repeat the known details about the film.
This song by K J Yesudas (Kattassery Joseph Yesudas), is the 9th presentation in this series ‘Genius of Jaidev. This song was recorded for the film, but for unknown reasons was not used in it, or deleted at the editing table. Jaidev has not only used classical Raga based on Ahir Bhairav for the song, but also have used all Clasical Hindustani Instruments to decorate it. Listeners, interested in poetry, I am sure, will find Dr. Raza’s words describing the philosophy of life very apt and appealing. Just close the eyes and enjoy the music as well as the lyrics depicting the meaning of ‘life’.
Song-Zindagi Ko Sanvaarnaa Hogaa (Aalaap)(1977) Singer-Yesudas, Lyrics-Dr. Rahi Masum Raza, MD-Jaidev
Lyrics
aa aa aa
aa aa aa aa
zindagi ko sanvaarnaa hogaa aa
dil mein sooraj utaarnaa hogaa
dil mein suraj utaarnaa hogaa
zindagi raat nahin
raat ki tasveer nahin een
zindagi sirf kisi zulf ki zanjeer nahin een
zindagi bas koi bigadi huyee taqdeer nahin
zindagi ko nikhaarnaa hogaa aa
zindagi ko sanvaarnaa hogaa
dil mein sooraj utaarnaa hogaa
zindagi dhoop nahin saaayaa-e-deevaar bhi hai
zindagi zaar nahi, zindagi dildaar bhi hai
zindagi pyaar bhi hai
pyaar kaa iqraar bhi hai
zindagi ko ubhaarnaa hogaa
zindagi ko sanvaarnaa hogaa
dil mein suraj utaarnaa hogaa
