Nainon se naina milaa ke (Song No. 16)
—————————————–
Recently someone brought a box of ‘Aflatoon’ to our home. I have eaten it many times before, but recently it has been the case of out of sight out of mind. It is a famous delicacy which is available at some sweet shops in Mumbai city.
It took some pieces to share it with friends during lunch at the office. A discussion on the name of the sweet ensued. I ventured my opinion that it means ‘ someone extremely talented & super intelligent’. A friend said it means ‘extraordinary’. A search on the net revealed that the meaning is accurate in terms of Hindi, Urdu and Marathi.
An interesting thing I found is that the word ‘Aflatoon’ is the Persian name of Pluto. I do not know much about the ‘falsafa-e-aflatoon’. So I will leave this topic and move on to the song.
Finally the last song of the series is presented. The song is from the film ‘Teer'(1954) which is an obscure film. The singer-lyricist-music director team of this extraordinary song are making their debut in the blog with this song. Zareena Mistry is the singer, with lyrics by Shambul Haq Shams and its composers name is Suleiman Dafrani. I thought the lyricist may be Shamsul Haq Shams. But I was not able to find anything on either names.
The song and lyrics are courtesy Avinash ji. I was pleasantly surprised to find such an enchanting song, when he sent the link and lyrics. It is easy to be familiar with this one and like this song.
I was not able to find the film at imdb website, though myswar.com is having the songs list. I find the song extraordinary mainly due to the strong vocal cords of Zareena Mistry. She is giving it her all and is truly a marvelous singer. She has sung one more song in this film. How come we haven’t heard her yet ? Or is she one of those one film wonders ?

Lyrics(Provided by Avinash Scrapwala)
Nainon se
nainon se naina mila aa
aankh mori phadke
ho
aankh mori phadke
nainon se naina mila aa
aankh mori phadke
ho
aankh mori phadke
chupke se dil mein samaa
chupke se dil mein samaa
duniya na jaan sakey
duniya na jaan sakey
duniya na jaan sakey
donon ka dil ho mila
donon ka dil ho mila
koi na maan sakey
koi na maan sakey
koi na maan sakey
koi na maan sakey
mujhse na daaman chhuda aa
ho jiyaraa dhadke
ho jiyaraa dhadke
nainon se naina mila aa
aankh mori phadke
ho
aankh mori phadke
ulfat ka saaz utthha
ulfat ka saaz uttha
honthon pe geet sajaa
honthon pe geet sajaa
honthon pe geet sajaa
geeton mein preet jagaa
geeton mein preet jagaa
taaron ke deep jalaa
taaron ke deep jalaa
taaron ke deep jalaa
taaron ke deep jalaa
ashkon ke deepak bujha aa
dil ka diya bhadke
ho
dil ka diya bhadke
nainon se naina mila
aankh mori phadke
ho
aankh mori phadke
sapnon mein aake sajan
sapnon mein aake sajan
dekh mere dil ki lagan
dekh mere dil ki lagan
dekh mere dil ki lagan
aasha ki naache pawan
aasha ki naache pawan
jhoom uttha dil ka chaman
jhoom uttha dil ka chaman
jhoom uttha dil ka chaman
jhoom uttha dil ka chaman
kismat ki kaliyaan khila aa
kabse jiya dhadke
ho
kabse jiya dhadke
nainon se naina mila
aankh mori phadke
ho
aankh mori phadke

@ Nahm ji – many thanks for the post !!
when i hear this song first time it was also pleasant surprise for me. While sharing it to Atul ji i had specifically mentioned that ‘ this is my first interaction with all those involved in creation of this song’….
I would request Deshmukh Sir and our other knowledgeable readers to share more information on them.
Thanks again !!
@ Atul ji – Kindly correct the word ‘phhadki’ as ‘phhadke’ in the title of the post. Thanks !
